limp mode, no vtec

hey guys.

just had my JDM H22 reinstalled in my most recent prelude.

now the problem is that the vtec is not working, and the rev limiter is at 6500 or so.

i have no clue why the car is in limp mode as there is NO check engine light (CEL)

i already ran a search and have gone thru all the tips and nothing seems to be doign the trick.

i first cleaned the vtec solenoid and that didn't help. now i've replaced it with another one and that hasn't helped either. i'm really running out of options here, please help!

thanks

P.S. i found two connector that weren't plugged into anything, but i'm almost certain they are for the stock intake. here is a pic nonetheless

i think only one of those is for the stock intake. check all of your connections for vtec wires, let it warm up before you look to find vtec, check oil pressure..good luck

thanks... btw i should mention that the JDM went into a VTEC model prelude... so i didn't mess with any wiring. i will check for that connector.

wire harnesses for the oem air intake?? only connections to an intake, correct me if im wrong, should be vac lines... but yah, like he said, have you tried warming your car up first? vtec won't engage until the car is up to normal operating temperature.

i think that box is referred to as the vaccum unit. now i'm not sure if it takes one connector or two?

i've searched my entire engine bay and could not find any extra connector that is within reach of these 2.

i checked all my ground wires, i sanded off all the ground contact points to make sure they were clean. i don't know if there are any other ground locations but the ones i covered are: the 3 wires at the driver side mount, the ground at the thermostat housing, and the ground on top of the passenger headlight (connects to the sub frame of the car).

i checked the connections to the knock sensor and oil pressure sensor and they both seem good. same with the O2 sensor.

i'm totally stumped

i checked my car last night, there is only one electrical connector that is disconnected from the box for the intake, that other one goes somewhere and is probably causing your limpness...

this is what i have figured out so far...

the 2 connectors. one has two wires, which i'm certain is for the intake vaccum unit. the other wire is green-yellow, or is it yellow-green...

that's the same color for the vtec solenoid wire. the vtec solenoid is hooked up to a green-yellow wire as well.

ok so that extra green-yellow wire near the passenger strut, i took that and put into the vtec solenoid and now vtec is working!

but that still leaves an extra green yellow wire...err... is my harness just retarded like that?
