Lights-on Chime problem

I'll try to expalin this the best i can.
WHen i installed my fog lights i ran a constant 12v to the relay so i can turn them on/off whenever i wanted.

When i park the car i've forgotten about them and left them on a few times. To solve that i tried to wire them to the light-on-reminder chime.

SO i ran the red/grn wire from the fog relay to the orange wire that gives voltage to the chime and now the chime doesn't work anymore. I even undid what i had done and it doesn't even work under normal conditions. I tested it with voltage straight from the battery and it rings only when i cycle power tapping ground on and off. So i guess i'll have to replace the damn thing.

Now, has anyone successfully wired the fogs to this chime? I'd appreciate any insight.

Humberto

I used factory lights... never felt comfortable with messing with the electrical system in that manner.

my concern was that a lot of these types of units are only sensing when a relay is still open, not the full voltage at the source.

the reason i thought it'd be ok is since the helms states to use battery voltage and ground to test the chime.

I read the diagrams and perhaps i can hook the red/green wire from the relay to the red/blk wire that tells the ICU that the lights are still on. But i think i need a diode to make the voltage flow only to the ICU circuit and not back up to the lights themselves. Can anyone attest to this?
