legend gs 2 pistons caliper upgrade

I was just wondering how many of you have done this legend 2 piston front caliper upgrade. i think it's almost identical to the nsx swap, but the legend calipers are slightly larger (and don't say nsx).

I have an sr so i'm upgrading to vtec (11.2") rotors. just wondering if anyone has any input for me before i go ahead and buy the calipers.

I have the calipers on my car. I was lucky enough to find a donor car ('95 Legend GS) and have them shipped for $35 each! I stripped the calipers down, had them powdercoated (you MUST do this.. screw paint!), then rebuilt using new seals and dust boots. Kind of a PITA using hand tools, but it's possible. I've noted that the pistons are 38mm and 42mm, of which both are 2mm larger than NSX calipers. Physically, there is little difference aside from the lack of the "NSX" logo and heatsink area. You should note, on the Legend, the calipers are mounted behind the axle, so you WILL need to flip the calipers over to allow the pad to scrub properly against the rotor face. This kinda tweaks the brake line, but they look sweet when finished!

did you use your stock brake lines, or did you switch to ss brake lines? if you switched to ss, do you get prelude si lines or legend lines?

I used Goodridge stainless lines for 4th-gen Prelude. They make a nasty bend at the bottom of the caliper, so I made sure I had a longer loop to handle suspension travel. I'm glad these lines are longer than the stock ones.

No, I wish they had made a dramatic difference in braking. Don't get me wrong, they're better than stock and fade is now virtually nonexistent. I don't think our braking problem lies in the calipers, but in the master cylinder and hydraulics of the system. I still have to apply quite a large amount of pedal pressure to stop the car. This really messes me up when I drive my friend's Vette then switch back to my car.

I paid $100 to do the powder coating, but that I went to the wrong shop and was being impatient. I could probably have them done for $50 if I took them to the shop I'm using now.

lude_conduct: why couldn't you put them in the front of the axles? was it cause the brake line would've been under the caliper? if so is there a reason you can't switch sides? like left caliper on right side? also are the Legend rotors thicker than the Prelude rotors like the NSX ones? And would the Legend rotors fit on a Prelude?

i think if you would want to put them on the other side of the axles you'd need to do a lot of modifications to the brackets that hold the calipers on...possible fabricating a whole new bracket. when you use the legend calipers, you just put them onto the stock prelude mounting brackets but you put the right legend calipers on the left side and the left legend caliper on the right side.

you can't use a legend rotor on a 4th gen because the legends were a 5 bolt setup and we are 4x114. most just use the prelude vtec rotors which are 11.2" and basically the same as the legend rotors except for the fact that they are not as thick. this can be fixed by making a shim which goes behind the brake pad and compensates for the thinner vtec rotors.

well, i just ordered my 95 legend gs calipers for 110 shipped. they have about 65K miles on them and i'm debating whether i should rebuild them or not. i guess i'll have a better idea once i see them, but could anyone give me information on rebuilding calipers?

where can i find a rebuild kit for a set of 95 legend gs calipers?
