Legend Calipers and Rotors

Hi all,

With my engine swap done its time for me to stop the car a bit quicker as well.

My 2.0i discs are at the point of being so small their nearly branded cute

I'm looking for the legend calipes and rotors, what year legend should I be looking at?

I've done a search and only really found prices for the bits.

Also would you replace the rears as well?

Thanks

Dave

you want the GS or coupe calipers. I forgot the exact years for them. Mine came off a 95 GS. I advise you to rebuild them, though you might have some trouble finding the seals you need. I found the seal kits for $30 per caliper (!!!) on partsamerica.com. For the rotors use rotors off a VTEC lude. I think the pads are the same for the Legend, NSX, and VTEC lude as well.

leave the rears alone.

Wow that is some money for the seal kits, I'll search some breakers yards around the UK and see if I can get a good low mileage set.

I'm hoping the rotars will be cheap, failing that a set of AEMs will suffice

Thanks

i suggest rebuilding them even if they have low mileage. you don't know how long they've sat in the yard and there might be some corrosion on the cylinder walls, so you'll want to smooth those out, plus you'll get rid of any gunk / old brake fluid buildup inside of them. You don't want them to seize up or anything.

its up to you, but remember, your brakes might save your life one day

What about his question on the rear brakes? I upgraded to VTEC rotors & calipers on the fronts, but my rears are still stock Si parts.
Options?

Point taken about rebuilding, more importantly they might save someone elses life.

I want to track the car before the end of the year and no brakes/seal popping certainly isn't my idea of fun

For the cost I might as well rebuild them, I'll get them shot blasted off the car so I can paint them up nicely as well

Thanks

I know, but is the AEM big brake kit all we can do, unless we want to sell our first born to buy some Baers?

I don't think Baer offers a rear kit, do they?

DS200: If you are planning on getting new rotors, I recommend Brembo blanks. They are blanks (no slots/drilling) and made to meet/exceed OEM specs. They can be had fairly cheap, one of our sponsors could probably score you a set.

Kevie88 did a really nice legend brake write-up (actaully I think his were NSX calipers). I believe the link still resided in the 4g FAQ, but the pictures might have disapeared. He isn't registered here, but he still posts on Honda-Tech if you have questions about rebuildign the calipers.

Thanks, I remember Kevie, he had a lovely black lude and had done the engine swap as well

I'll have a look at the FAQ, hopefully the Brembo ones can be shipped to the UK for a 1/2 reasonable price, stuff over here is so expensive

Thanks again
