Legal aftermarket muffler

is there such thing?

what is a legal aftermarket muffler for our 4th gens? the tip has to be the same size as stock. how big is the stock tip? and no i dont wanna go put the stock one back on. i currently have the Apex N1 NA application w/ silencer and its considered illegal in vancouver.

here are examples of an illegal muffler in vancouver - taken from a cop on importclassifieds.com

Examples
Stock Car X with stock muffler 2 inch tip
-LEGAL

Stock Car X with after market N1 muffler 2 inch tip
- not permissible due to constuction, even if tip size is same or smaller

Stock Car X with after market Y muffler 4 inch tip
- not permissible because of tip size and/or construction

Stock Car X with stock looking/design muffler but loud
- not permissible because of DB level

Mufflers can be deemed not-permissible due to the following characteristics:
- tip size
- construction
- dB level

any inputs? the gestapo has taken over Richmond BC. anyone caught with an aftermarket muffler and a lowering job will get there cars towed! theres a zero-tolerance on all import rides in richmond BC cuz of the recent street racing fatalities around the area.

that is jus stupid for us lower mainland import enthusiasts.

i dun think there is a "legal" aftermarket muffler unless it is very close to stock.

dunno if this helps but this zero tolerance thing is OUTRAGEOUS

Hmm, they tried to ticket me, my tips are 3" but the problem isn't the tips...they did the "pipe cleaner" test. It was considered illegal because nothing restricted the pipe cleaner from going all the way through...you need some kinda resontor there or something...

ANd about DB level..I just act confident and tell them it passes DB level test and they let me go

I must say the APex N1 is damn deep and loud..which is why I want it A golf passed by me 2 weeks ago with it...it shook my insides...sweet
