Leaking oil

I just recently bought a 93 prelude vtec. Before I bought the car I had a compression test done and everything checked out ok. I just noticed today that I am leaking oil when I park overnight. When I back my car out in the morning there is a couple of drops of fresh oil on the ground. I am just wondering how serious of a problem this is or can be and what I can do to fix it.

how many miles on it? has basic maintenance been done on it yet? i know this may sound dumb, but check your valve cover bolts. I had $1000 worth of maintenance done on my lude after it hit 100k miles. about 2 weeks later i was leaving HUGE puddles of oil in the driveway and losing about a quart a day. fresh oil was leaking into my #4 and #3 plugs. To top it off, oil spots were starting to appear on my valve cover around the 4 bolt.

I set out one day to look for the oil leak. Just for the hell of it i took out a socket wrench and went to tighten my valve cover bolts. turns out the valve cover bolts were just SITTING there. they were not even tighened at all. because they werent tightened, the O-rings under those bolts werent being compressed and oil was just leaking through the rings.

Honda paid to clean my valve cover and cleaned up ALL the oil that had leaked into my plugs. They also gave me a free oil change and tire rotation. The lesson of the story: Dont trust anyone

take care,
tim

I had the same problem with my lude and it was comming from the drain plug so you may want to check the sealer around the bolt. If its missing you can pick one up at any local car part dealer.

I have a leak out of the corner of my oil pan gasket, it's just the rubber seal between the bottom of the oil pan and above. It's like a $20 part...you just have to remove your downpipe and stuff to get to it. It's not a big deal for me, I just keep an eye on the oil level everytime I fill up until I can get around to fixing it.

Check that...
