take it up to 3500 and ease the clutch out for minimal tire spin

This topic has been covered quite extensively in the Drag Racing forum.

You might want to check there, as I am too lazy to re-type anything.

ok what tires are you using?
thats a big difference.

When i first got my 96 prelude vtec i took it too the track, i was a mustang guy before that so i didnt really know how to launch that ****ed up vtec ****=) I launched at 2500rpm with worse than stock tires and pulled off a 14.84@90mph then took it home. I didnt think it could get any better than that. I mean **** a stock 4cyl running better times than my stock 5.0 V8.

Over the winter I learned to drive the car and modded the hell out of the car, as the next season was coming up i lost a timing belt and was out of the season. So i drove my umm x-girlfriends 2001 prelude to the track completely stock performance-wise except for a JDM intake and neuspeed springs. I launched at 2500 like i did with my car and ran a 16.7 with 18's and toyo's(she has a stupid ass stereo...hey atleast i got her to get a prelude) So i was like what the f**k i tried a couple more times launching the same way. pulled of a best of 16.5.

SO i decided to try something else, i noticed that my car as well as her car bogged pretty bad right after the launch so i launched at 5500rpm. Well its wasnt my car and it had a warrantee so what the hell? might as well try. pulled her car down to 15.91. And didnt have any problems. Probably if you do this alot you might start breaking **** but who knows. All i know is that launching like that with her car knocked off 6 tenths consistently. I just wish i knew that before i messed with my car, I wonder what it really could run stock.
