kinda confused. Motor help

I have a H23vtec right. With a VAFC installed right now. Well my vtec x-over is at 4500 and it goes into vtec just fine has been for a while now. But the other day my gauges started acting up. My tach reads perfectly all the way to about 6000-6500 then the tach just starts bouncing around everywhere, but the speedo works perfectly. Well sometimes when driving hard I hit like 6500-7000 rpms and it feels like I am hitting a rev limiter, it feels like hitting a brick wall. I am using the P13 and all the wires on the vafc are good. What the hell would cause this. And sometimes it lets me take it to 7500 no problem. I am confused like a mofo. Any help would be nice. thanks

I remember we had a V-AFC wiring problem that caused the car to have VTEC and no engine codes, yet have a fuel cut at 6500. The wiring was pretty wrong though.

If the tach is readin funny but not the speedo it seems like a distributor thing.

so you think the distribitor is going? Also I thought that maye the tach was reading funny cause of something internal the gauges. Also I am 99.99% sure the wiring for the vafc is correct. Timing is exact as well. The only other thing I noticed is that mine doesn't stop TDC everytime I turn off the car, and neither does my boys 92, but my other boys 96 does. I just can't figure out why it would let me go all the way to redline sometimes and not others.

it's your distributor, i have the same problem
it's actually the ignition module. It's the internal, almost an ecu for the distributor. You might as well just buy a new distributor since yours is probably old.
Advance auto parts sells them for 165 and Autozone sells them for 179
