If you don't care about performance, just get a muffler. I have a custom full exhaust, with a dual DTM style muffler, and I like the way it sounds, but others don't. Try doing a search. I remember some guys posting audio/video clips of their exhausts. Everyone has their own opinions.

Please, for the love of god, don't just strap a tip on your muffler.

You're about to get a ton of opinions on this one, you should probably do a search. If you want a deep tone but not much louder than stock, go apexi ws, if you want it really loud, go apexi n1. Also towards the loud end are the thermal stealth, greddy, and tanabe. If you go for the full catback you will get more power and generally a better tone. You could also buy the n1 muffler if you don' t want the full system

correct me if I am wrong, I was told once that a "thrust" muffler is what I need, but the person may have been a idiot and didn't know what he was taking about, but I want a deep tone that isn't is medium loud, I also am not sure to go for the whole system or just the muffler, is the sound that much better? for the more $ ?

The muffler is what makes the tone, correct me if I am wrong. Most of the performance increase is from the bigger Exhaust tubing.
