So im leaving for work on saturday, and some jackass decides to slam into my car pulling out of a road. best part is, he has NO insurance. so i call the cops, and he gives the guy a ticket, i guess for no insurance. we exchange numbers and info like the cop tells us to, and that we need to figure out what we r doing. we can either sue the guy, or just have the guy pay us, like he said he would do. so my dad calls the guy on sunday, and the phone number he gave us isnt even in service. goes to his house, cuz apparently he lives by me, and no1 is there. goes again today, no1 there. so we cant get in contact with the guy, and i cant even get my money from his insurance company. this really sucks, and i just need some money to get a winter car to drive for now. hopefully the cops can get in contact with him and help us out. well, here r the pics. shop says its totalled. doesnt look too bad, but i couldnt get any pics to really show how bad it is. the suspension is shot. the tire is leaning in on the top with some crazy camber, and the the car only goes straight with the steering wheel turned 90 degrees to the left. well, here r the pics.

If nothing else if your insurance company does want to total they will give you fair market value for it (whatever they decide that is (bastards)) and then you can just buy it back from them fairly cheap and fix it yourself!

ahhhh, u see, basic liability doesnt cover that. even if it was his fault, and under these circumstances, im "on my own" only way to get the money is trough a law suit

I was able to drive my car.. the person did mess up my camber when I tried to get it aligned.... I have to replace the upper control arm to correct it....
but yea... the only thing that was major was my Fender...

Yeah, I'm with the dude that said buy it back. That way you can part it out to people who needs parts and still make some cash for what is left over for it. My guess is that they probably think there is frame damage to that side giving it the totaled title.
yeah, thats what i have wanted to do in the first place. i would love to keep it, but i know it will most likely not be the same after fixing it, and will give me more problems down the road. hopefully i can just get some money for it being totalled and part it out. as soon as i know whats going on, ill let u all know and start taking the car apart.

you can actually put the car back together. it doesn't look even all that bad. New corner light, fender and a driver side knuckle and possibly a lower-control arm which should be very easy to find online, at the junk yard. etc.

yeah, i was told that we could possibly fix it for around 2000. now we did get a nice estimate for 6300, so we went to the guy with that. he said he has no money, so that we would have to sue him. guy looks broke as hell, but i need to at least get some money out of him. the car was giving me some problems before anyway, so if i could get a good amount out of him, and the part out the car id be happy, then i could just get another one with no problems and start fresh again.

You'd be better off totalling the car; any time you have a hard hit on the drive wheels, you are looking at definate susp. damage (which can be a PITA to chase down and correct) and possibly tranny/axle/structural damage.
aww man what a bad situation, i hope you can get a hold of that bastard
I say FIX IT
I totalled my car and spend every penny I had to fix the frame damage and everything, and it came out with a new paint job and no dents or rust....I didnt have any suspension damage but your damage still doesnt look half as bad as my car did and I just dont wanna lose another lude!!
especially to an idiot driver with no insurance...tell us how everything works out man
Ok here boss. here is some advice from my accident.
1st: contact your insurance company and tell them all that happened about the other guy having no insurance. Uninsured driver and your insurance should cover it with no rate increase as long as the other guy was at fault. You need police report.
2nd: if the insurance company says they think its totaled. Ask them to send an adjuster out to find used parts. Yea i know used parts, but its either that or you dont get your car back. Ask them to look at the quote/get a copy.
So that so that way you get your car fixed and let the insurance companies lawyers go after that guy. Cause the other guy could make it a very long process for you to get your money if you ever get it if you try to sue him personally. 95% of the time no one will EVER pay you personally for damaging your car. especially if its more then a bumper scratch. Cause look at your suspension and now a wheel too. I bet he doesn't have that kind of money on hand.
