just put in brake master cylinder, having troubles still

ok i know its more than likely been covered and covered and covered, but ive been searching for an hour and havent come up with a solid answer yet so heres my posting.

i just replaced my brake master cylinder and bled the lines. i get in and take it for a test ride to see if its working, and the brake has no pressure for the first at least 1/2 of pushing it down then it catches at the end with the pressure it should from the beginning.

does it sound like theres something that i missed? do i need to do further adjustments or something? the instructions said that i should have "Before installing the master cylinder, check and adjust the pushrod clearance" i didnt do this, would it make a difference on how the brakes go down?

any feedback is appreciated. thanks.

did you bench bleed the brake master cylinder first before you put it in?

yeah we did but we dont have a bench or vise so we just poured some fluid in, put in the plugs that came with it, and connected a hose betwen the two and pumped the pushrod until no more fluid went down.

did you bleed the Master Cylinder when you reinstalled it to the brake booster?

The pushrod measurement could also be a posibility.. but its somewhat unlikely imo....

ok heres the steps we took in order:

1. remove old bmc
2. "bench" bleed new bmc to best knowledge without tools
3. install new bmc
4. connect all lines
5. bleed brakes all around (RR, LR, RF, LF)

i talked to my one friend and he said i might have to bleed the lines all like 2 or 3 more times, is this true? when we bled it there wasnt any air coming out so i dont think that would be so..

thats what you're suppose to do.. b/c front wheel vehicles use a diagnoally split brake system... you have the right bleeding sequence......

for rear-wheel drive vehicles... they use a "Front-To-Back" brake system (I believe its called "conventional".. I forgot)... thats when you use the bleeding sequence: RR, RL, FR, FL.....

ot but i like masumi max tru..........hahaha she is so hot.....

anyways back on topic: did you have a previous problem that you were fixing? sinking pedal? searched and found you just change the bmc? because i still have a faulty abs system, i've bleed i dunno how many times, changed the bmc, and i still have crappy braking.....i think the only thing left to change out in my system is the calipers and the brake booster.......

and my friend who bought a rebuilt bmc from autozone was faulty and he switched it out and then it worked fine

yeah ive been searching and talking with local prelude owners to my area and they all said the same thing. when id be going and hit the brake it would just sink with little or no braking pressure. so i changed the bmc with a remanufactured oem one i bought from advance auto. it seems as though i have brakes now but the pedal just feels like its not engaging until its half way down. thats the reason now i am thinking its the pushrod because the helms i have says youre supposed to use a special tool on it but i didnt have one and hoped it wouldnt make a difference after i had my brakes already torn apart and no way to get out and get hte tool. also i dont know if this means something but when im sitting and i hit the brakes a bunch of times repeatedly, my idle goes up and after i stop it goes back to normal..

i hope that made sense it did in my head and while i was typing.
