Just had UR Ultra SS Pulley set installed

I just had a set of polished unorthodox racing pulleys installed yesterday. The set comes with a lightened alternator pulley, lightened power steering pulley, and a lightened and underdrivin crank pulley. They look nice under the hood. Ive got a little belt squeel from the alternator belt cuz its a little loose but im getting that fixed tuesday. So now that makes Injen Cold Air Intake, DC Sports 4-2-1 Header, 5Zigen Fireball Cat-back Exhaust, and Unorthodox Racing Ultra SS Pulley Set. My JDM headlights should be here tuesday so i'll have to find time to install them next week. Does anyone have any idea how long it would take to complete the install?

Good luck with the crank pulley. I've read lots of bad reviews on them. Hopefully your engine holds up well with it.

Installing jdm headlights shouldn't take very long. Taking the bumper on and off is the most time consuming for me. I think I did it in an hour or two...but i'm slo

what kind of bad reviews?? this worries me. i research things before i buy anything for my car to a pretty good extent and i havent come across anything that would indicate that this pulley set is going to give me any problems. i think ur's faq does a good job at laying any falsehoods to rest about pulleys. do you have anything in specific...please share if you do. id like to know.

thanks
justin

basically, the ur crank pulley doesn't have the dampeners that the stock crank pulley has, and this can possibly damage the engine. do a search on "unorthodox racing crank pulley" This has been debated many times.

UR Crank Pulley

Unorthodox update.

well ****. i just took unorthodox racing's website's faq for the truth and dismissed any argument. i was planning to have my engine rebuild, top and bottom, in the summer of 2003 anyway so when they do the rebuild is there a way they can balance out the whole rotating assymbly so its all ok and back to original reliability. I need a reliable engine. i cant deal with catostrophic engine failure. that will never do. i still have the 3 factory pulleys and the belts too.

The crank pulley is the only one in question.

The crank pulley is the one you shouldn't install. I don't think honda has some crook engineers designing engines and one of them decided to put a rubber damper on there for a cool factor. It's there for a reason...

i think of it as more of a safe than sorry thing. It might not be bad to the engine, but its only one pulley, and might as well err on the side of safety, right?

well whatever, the pulleys are on so thats that. i'll keep you posted on the condition of my engine. im thinking that keeping up with regular maintainance and taking care not to over-rev the engine or rev excessively when the engine is cold will prolong the life of the engine with or without the pulley.

We're currently saying the UR pulley was a contributing factor in my crank failure......I wouldn't use one again...

if my motor goes kaplooey then i doubt i'll get another ur crank pulley as well. hopefully luck will be on my side. what are we worrying about? spun bearings? what exactly is that...i mean, i know what bearings are but what is a spun bearing exactly? is it catostrophic (just get a new engine) like throwing a rod through the block or is it something like worn piston rings that can be "easily" fixed?

Haha no...usually a spun bearing will cause your rod to fuse to your crank, and likely damage pistons/cylinder walls...depends though.

Either way a spun bearing means full bottom end build...

i figured that. so assuming i drive my car like a normal human being and perform regular maintainance on it at the appropriate intervals, should i really worry? do you think it will survive till june of next year? lol im having my motor completely rebuild top to bottom then (hopefully) so if it will last till then im straight.

Wow, you took UR's faq as the truth for a product they make that they are trying to sell to the public? Anyhow, good luck with that.

What's the point of getting more power from the engine if you're gonna drive it like a wuss?

It's not a lie if they believe it.

It's not a lie if you can't prove it.
