long story short, i had to sideswipe a car to avoid a rear-end collision...my side view mirror cracked, door got scraped up, and rear quarter panel got dented in...ne idea how much it'd all cost if was to pay for it myself? or would it be better to take it to insurance? but my insurance is highas it is... thanks for ur help guys

Sorry to hear about the bad luck and glad you're OK.

I'm not sure how much it will cost, but it will definitely be cheaper to go through insurance. Your deducatable will be a lot less than the repair cost, but like you said, your insurance rate will increase.

Just get an estimate from a few shops and then make a decision.

Good Luck!

Mark

Glad you are ok. I can tell you that the damage will be more than your deductible. Normally, on a 1/4 and door damage, it runs about 1400 on up. If you can show me some pics, I can write an estimate for you. It wont be entirely acurate, but it will give you a ball park figure. If you report it to your insurance, there is a good chance you might see a rate increase.
