I used the high tension wire like everyone has said to for the ebrake extension. It works great, for keepng my car parked. Problem is i can no longer slide my car using the ebrake.... and reason why this is happening? Any ideas for a fix? Have others that have done the swap had the same experiance?
i actually need to edit my write up on hpoa because the pictures stopped working....
when u take ur console out see if there is some tension on the wires...like one pulling more than the others, i had to "fanagle" it a little to get it even....
other than that, i cant think of any other reason besides ur ebrake not engaging all the way that could cause this.....
yea I know why the ebrak dosnt slide well, its becuase on the side it actually rubs against the side of the center console causing friction. It does the same thing on mine, but i just got used to it.
evan did u bend that little rod with the spring on it any?And did you make one side of the wire longer than the other? Also does everyones hazard swithc and ebrake light still work?
he is talking about sliding....like drift turning.....
and no, i didnt bend it, but i did alter it's angle, so it's stationary with the the closest side tilted farther away....so that the tension wire pulls evenly on both sides....
my ebrake light still works, u just need to reattach the old wires to the new ebrake, and the new hazard switch, i think u need to rewire, i just got rid of it completely....hehe ooops
hahah.. you have to rewire the hazard ligh switch to get it to work. next time i take out my enteiro i will take some pictures of how the ebrake is mounted.
why are you trying to drift your fwd car?? Its retarded, leave drifting to the rwd fools that like buying tires and going around corners slower than need be... Not to mention the unneeded stress you are putting on your suspension (fwd isnt made for that ****)
Why dont yall just back off. Sometimes its just fun to be able to get sideways and it actually does help to get your cars thru some corners faster in certain autocross turns.
Ill be taking the console apart again soon to redo the setup ffor the tension wire on the ebrake so ill try to remember to take pics then.

why do you have a Prelude? why do you work on it? you can already get from point A to point B...right? the fact that we all decide to modify our perfectly good modes of transportation (modify, not repair, repairs are necessary) puts us in the same category as those drifters, just to a different extent. the bottom line is FUN! however you like it. now, as for fwd cars not made for drifting... i don't really know of ANY car that's made for drifting. some are just naturally better than others, and we MODIFY them to bring the best of those characteristics out of them. now, as for unneeded stress, you may as well start taking that 60mph left sweep on the highway at 20. it'll save on tire wear, shock wear, spring wear, ball joint wear...the list goes on. you gotta remember, in this game, it's about fun, and we all know we pay extra for it one way or another.

nicly put! Drift or Die <--quote from Sammy @ Cartune texas.
To add to this drifting thing... i notice you have 4ws, if you are drifting with this you aren't the smartest person because that royally screws up the 4ws computer and if you keep doing that it will end up having to be replaced.... not too cheap
So I guess i would also be messing up the 4ws by going thru a corner fast enough to where the back and front wheels begin to loose traction and the whole car begins to slide thru the apex of the turn? Cause i drive my car hard only on occasion and this does sometimes happen. I dont see how occasionally pulling the ebrake when going thru a corner to cause the back end to come around is going to mess with the 4ws anymore than spirited driving could. Maybe drifting is the wrong word, maybe its the right word but like ZIG said before its about having fun, and its fun to have the car rotate thru a corner and get a lil squirrely coming out every now and then, and if i was worried about things braking then i would probably have to get some springs that would raise me back up 1.5 inches, set the shocks the the softest setting, get some smaller wheels with tires that have a huge sidewall, and no longer take my car to the 1/4 mile track.
It affects your car more when you pull the ebrake it locks your 4ws unit. When you take a hard turn and break your back tires loose the 4ws unit is still able to move freely when you turn your steering wheel, but when you lock the tires with the ebrake then it locks your 4ws unit. I understand what they are saying it is harder on it, but I have done it and my car is 12 years old and still functions excellently. Do what you like, have fun, thats what a prelude is all about, fun!
