Just to clarify please

I used the search and I read the info, but this is just for edification(sp?). I'm going with the h22a swap, and Im more than likely going to be using the h23 tranny, I know that the 1-2 shift will suffer, but I do must of my driving on the highway, and with the current tranny, 3-4, and 4-5 gear shifts drop the revs only 2000 rpms, and h22a's rev past 7000 rpm so why is there controversy with using this tranny on h22 swaps, this might seem stupid, but wouldn't the h23 tranny actually allow for a higher top speed????

please don't flame, this is just for curiousity cause I'm trying to apply knowledge I think I've grasped

The big deal is that the H23 gears ARE longer, which would hamper acceleration a bit. I'm sure Joel could go into more detail as he has an excellent understanding of gearing and it's effects of acceleration.

i am using my si tranny with my h22a, and the main prob that i anticipated was that i would fall out of vtec between shifts. that isnt really as much of a big deal as i thought it would be. i have heard from the guys at the track that the VTEC tranny will net you about 2 tenths as far as acceleration goes, but this is just an estimation. also the final drive and 5th gear are the same, so for the freeway you wont have to worry
