JUN Hood

i'd have to say this is the most attractive aftermarket hood for our 4th gens. but it retails at $1,038.00 from importfan.com has anyone seen a replica version of the hood? or even a carbon fiber copy?

I am not really crazy about it at all?

What are the vents good for?? Getting water in the engine bay, that's about it.

The air is not going to cool the engine that much at all considering you would have to be travelling backwards to get some good airflow. - So I don't want to hear that as an answer.

you dont think that air travels from the front of the bumper to the engine and out of those vents?..

Ever heard of a "Heat Extractor" hood? Yeah, thats one. Heat rises, meaning it'll blow right out of the vents. Most hardcore domestics out here have them as opposed to the induction hoods.

Sufficient answer?

Cowl hood work on domestics and the vent is in the back. It has a vaccum effect on the engine back sucking out air. So it does help to cool.

heres how it works. the hood design is similar to the mugen type-r hood.

"AERO HOOD KIT
If all that is required is a lightweight hood, the cheapest manufacturing method is manual forming of FRP (or CFRP) using glass fiber (or carbon fiber) material. However, Mugen considers this inadequate to meet the requirements of hood strength, stiffness, engine heat countermeasures, and safety. Mugen's solution is a high-rigidity, lightweight hood made of autoclave-formed glass-fiber prepreg. This results in lightweight products (8.2 kg compared with the normal 15.2 kg) while at the same time achieving positive locking due to the high stiffness. Air outlets are also incorporated to extract the hot air from the engine bay interior under the action of negative pressure, which helps to alleviate heat build-up in the engine. It can be fitted to all 3/4-door cars except those with four round headlights. All cars except those with four round headlights."

not to diss, but that is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard...common sense ...do you think that there's no air coming inside the engine at all for cars without the hood scoop...

but he does bring up something I wanted to ask everyone here...

With those hood scoops/air vents/ all those holes, doesn't rain come into play here?? How do you stop rain from getting into your engine bay? Is there a lever you can open and close the vents with? (i didnt think so) ..... Or is Rain on the Engine a minor thing? Lemme know.

If you guys are wondering about the rain, the vent sits just about above the headers and i haven't really seen a problem when it rains or even when i wash the car besides after washing wiping the water off the headers. Rain isn't a problem due to the vent being opens towards the rear and if ur moving forward, it's hard for the rain to fall into it.
