JDM Type S Intake Owners

Im about to install my Type S intake but ran into a couple of concerns. I know there are a some other 4th genners that have this intake installed so maybe u guys can help me out.

First, what did you guys do about the little plug that goes into the top like pictured here:

Secondly, what is this box?? It looks like its going to be in the way of the intake chamber...

Any input would be appreciated.

The first one is for the starting air valve, my H22 didn't have it so i capped it. The second pic is the intake control solenoid valve, I just removed it as it was in the way and not needed. do you have a copy of the service manual?

Ditto what was said above. I just capped off that vacuum hose and you should have removed that little box when you took out your resonator.

it will be a slow start if you remove the vacume hose.

i took my little metal barb out of my oem intake and drilled a hole in my type s and hooked it up.

and so you know the chamber will rub on your coil and a little on your batery

but i have had mine in for 6 months with no problem

and the type s has a better sound imo than a cold air.

JDM engines don't use a Starting Air Valve, they have a block off plate, so their intakes don't have a port for the vacuum line.

A block off plate is just a piece of metal that blocks where the valve would be. The valve is only usefull if you live in really cold climate. If you actually feel like using it, tap the intake and put an 1/8" fitting on it to connect to the vacuum hose.
