JDM transmission vs. USDM

Is there any difference between a USDM VTEC transmission and a JDM VTEC transmission?

Thanks

The gears are exactly the same, however there is an optional LSD available.

How good is the LSD that comes on those trannies? I decided that if I were going to get an H22 swap it would have the LSD. Is it even in the same class as the Quaife?

Later

You can get traction control in Japan too.

I think thats right actually. I was wondering what type of system it was. On our FSAE car, we run traction control, but everything is controlled by the Motec ECU. . .it just varries the timing or fuel maps to compensate for wheelspin. Obviously, this isn't the way the Prelude system (it's not built into the ECU, as far as I know).

I think it is in the ECU, cause it will throw a code 36 if not hooked up properly. Which means you have to swaps some pins from doing a regular jdm swap.

I thought it's been posted before, but jdm 92-96 trannies have gearing somwhere in between usdm 92-96 and usdm 97-01.

Yeah the tranny code is M2B4, it's usually about $700

Well for people needing the tranny as well it's a good upgrade, and you can defintely get the tranny for less than I said.

Plus add the cost of the Quaife install versus just a tranny swap.
