jdm tranny vs. usdm ?

What are the differences in these two transmissions?? Is the gearing or does the jdm come with a LSD? I'm replacing my tranny, clutch, and flywheel and need to know which one I should go with..thanks.

I don't believe there is an appreciable difference in the gear ratios. SOME (not all) JDM tranny's are equipped with an LSD. Satan_SRV can probably tell you the tranny codes for USDM/JDM/JDM-LSD trannys.

USDM H22a tranny is M2F4 it's the same as the JDM M2A4. The JDM M2B4 is the same as the other except is has an OEM LSD. It's nothing reeeealy special but it's an LSD.

It can. Really depends. I had a 5th gear grind on my 4th gen tranny. And I have one on my euro-r tranny

Is the LSD really worth it on a front wheel drive car?

Are you serious? Of course they are worth it. They make a huge difference, especially when pushing the car to the limit. I have a Quafie in my tranny, and it was a night and day difference. Probably the best mod I ever installed on the car.

Oh, and how is it that you guys wind up always having a bad 5th gear synchro? What are you doing to them? I had an FI prelude with over 140K miles on the original tranny, and it never had a problem with grinding. As a matter of fact everyone of my Preludes have never had this problem.

I had a fifth gear grind on my 4th gen Lude but it was driver induced. I was autoxing on a tight 3/8 mile high band oval and when shifting to third coming off the high bank, I hit fifth instead. It didn't go in smoothly to say the least and never shifted into fifth again quickly, without grinding. I played stupid to the Honda rep and got them to replace the fifth gear syncro under warranty.
