I would say just buy a long block. You already have a vtec tranny.

i dont know the costs yet for internal work. everyone on honda-tech has been telling me to just do internal. im still not sure if im gonna be turboing or just going NA but if i do wont it be a good idea to build the USDM. also, even though it has high milage, will that really make a difference since i will be putting in a lot of new internals anyway?

Money wise, you can get a longblock for just about $1300, ecu and everything else that comes with it besides the tranny. You will be spending more for doing internal work and parts. Unless you have a friend in the motor shop that can do stuff for you at cost.

If it were my car, I would just swap in a JDM h22, all you need is the motor, $1200 as others have said, lower milage, a lot less work, and you get the JDM flavor.

Yeah, usually the jdm motors have roughly 30 - 45k miles on it. I mean, thats the best bang for the buck But then again, a lot of maintanence has to be done when doing the install. Timing belt, oil, and extra parts. But if you can do it yourself. You can knock it out without paying any shop to do it.

well i dont see why you cant just rebuild ur usdm to spec and replace the internals for better but then again, the jdm doesnt seem so expensive. looks like your gonna have to decide if you wanna go n/a or turbo and make ur choice from there. im like that to, i always ask the what ifs, like i wasnt sure if i should get a jdm h22a or keep my h23. ide say rebuild with better internals and new tranny if urs is shot.
