ok, I'm just about done transferring the parts from my old bumper to my new one, and I'm ready to bolt the fog lights and their brackets onto the bumper, but I've run into a snag, and I need someone who's done this install to help me:
On the PASSENGER side (right side) of the bumper, on the inside, there is a weird plastic cover which bolts up against the side of one of the two large square metal extensions from the heavy metal bumper absorber, these extrusions are where the two long studs stick out that you slide into the holes on that cars frame when you re-hang the bumper. Anyway, I've figured out this cover is to protect the R134a cannister which sets to the passenger side of the radiator, and is clearly visible with the bumper off.
My problem is I cannot fit the passenger side fog assembly in with this cover on, and I'm not sure if it's ok to leave it off, because I guess it's there to keep the metal from the bumper absorber from contacting/puncturin the cannister, although I can't imagine that's possible except in a collision. Any help would be appreciated, and I'm imagining someone had to have run into this problem, thanks. Adam.
So did you take the whole fog set from one Lude and put it on another Lude? How hard was it to get the fogs off the first Lude? How long did it take you?
actually I managed to bought a brand new set of foglights on ebay from a guy who found the box sitting in a dark and dusty corner in his Honda parts dept. Lucky find I guess. I'll tackle the wiring today hopefully, but lol, I still haven't installed the headlights. I have some serious issues, but in my defense, it was hot and humid, and I was covered in sweat. Still though, I have problems with some of the most rediculous things. I transferred all the parts from the old bumper easily, put the new stay assembly on over the absorber, put all the push-clips back in, but it was trying to fit that A/C cannister protector in with the fog lights that took some time. Then another hour went into trying to fit one of the side (not front) fog light cover screws in. I guess I didn't drill a large enough hole into the bumper, because I was getting the screw through the cover and I think the bumper, but I couldn't match it up with the hole in the fog light bracket. That was aggravating, but I managed it eventually. So the bumper sits in my garage, basically complete, and all I need to do is install the headlights and put the bumper back on. Why am I so slow, I wonder.
^^ haha you cant handle the heat in MI??? you should move closer to the Equator like me. one of my Friends starts to blister if he is in the sun too long, we all think he is a vampire cause he used to be allergic to water when he was younger and still is allergic garlic and blisters in the sun.
any ways back on topic yea i didn't encounter that problem, either, but the plate i think you are talking about is the plate that blocks water from getting into the fender area so the intake doesn't pick it up. since u got the kit i imagine u have all wires but your car should pretty much already be Pre wired, just follow the how directions in the FAQ section pretty strait forward.
yeah, I'm still thinking that plastic cover has something to do with the A/C cannister, 'cause it's on that side of the metal buldge in the absorber bar, but no matter. Now to install the headlights... gotta go find some info about the positive and negative wires.
Lol, it's not the heat that I can't stand, but the humidity. I mean, I come home from work and it's a major ordeal just to take my shirt off, what with the profuse amount of sweat which has bonded my skin to my shirt lol. Then let's say you take a shower and head out to get some things done ... 10, 20 minutes max, you feel sticky and miserable ... ugh. Ahh well, I complain about snow, so I might as well shut up and deal with this.
hehe yea i hate snow i cant even handle the 50 degree weather when it comes... ide rather put up with our huricanes than snow, though our drive way got owned buy a tree 2 years ago i saw it leaning so i backed out two of three cars i got in the third car and looked at the tree again,, guess what was quickley coming my way. so i flored it in reverse, i am a Hero of Cars
