To Jdm or HID

One thing I really dislike is the choices we face. I finally decided to choose the jdm black housing over the clear ones.
I finally have saved up enough money to spare on the jdm blk housing and guess what happens.
I was broswing the po.com classified and they had a gb on hid.
I got curious enough and read the whole post and I found a link
Guess what..that link had a pic of a 4th gen OEM Hid and dang...it looks good.
So...now I have to decide jdm blk housing or hid

Oh...here is a link
http://community.webshots.com/storag...YZbNecQ_ph.jpg
and you have to copy and paste to a new window to see the pic.

Well I have to go decide.

Yeah, I asked Ando if he can do JDM HID, but I don't think that he will. I think JDM LUDE took his JDM apart and completely messed it up, and the JDM reflector might be too small for the projector.

I'm in the exact same situation as you. JDM looks better in the day, but HID looks better at nite and I'm not too happy with our stock lighting. HID is more functional to me.

Here's your 3rd option... take your stock headlights apart and paint it like neoekai, then just send it over to Ando for the HID. I am really considering doing this, but currently do not have the money to do so. You won't have true JDM's but it's close and you have the HID...

I would go for the JDM black housing. The HID's will only make a difference at night. Plus the HID will be illegal.

Not really illegal since the HID is OEM from another car like the Audi TT or the S4

It comes down to form or function. Do you want your car to look better or have better lighting? I'd much rather have HID's, JDMs don't look that much better than stock.

Ya, but it's not OEM for the prelude...I think...Correct me if I'm wrong, I thought even if it's OEM for another car it's still illegal.

Yes they do.

BTW I think it is illegal to have HID lights in a car that did not come with them.

I don't think that is true. Sylvania makes true retrofit kits that completely replace sealed beam (circular & rectangular) headlights. Unfortunately that leaves 4th and 5th gens out, but maybe 3rd generation and earlier Preludes can use these kits. And these Xenarc kits are legal in the USA, they even have some kits for Chevy and Ford trucks and SUVs. Sylvania's website sells them directly to the public at about $850 - ouchee! Or you might find them at autoparts stores for less.

I don't think it is illegal and at the same time I don't care. I need more lighting during nite time driving and the stock headlight is a POS when it comes to looks.
I guess I will get the Jdm blk housing and hope the HID can be retrofited in the Jdm blk housing.

Ok, good luck to you when the cops pull you over. I guess you can just tell them:

This HID legal/illegal thing isn't as simple as "it's legal to have HID in your car." There is a lot of things that come into play....

sorry to tell u this but my buddy is a cop
and supposly the after market HID kit is LEGAL as long as u aim it right..I never go pulled over by a cop because of light and they never asked me..that's in Rhode Island tho...correct me if i'm wrong ..but as far as my cop friend is right it is LEGAL to have HID in your car

Think about Acura TL or Audi's or BMWs
Their lights are hella bright and it's even brighter when they got Projectors or angel eyes...! if it is not legal cops gonna have to pull out every single HID lights off these cars yo..
Just because they didn't come with the car it ain't mean it's illegal..it's not like u have blue signal bulbs or some stuff like that..

Just because HID came wit the car we can't get blind by other cars came with HID and always have ugly Yellow light

Ya, I guess it would matter where your living also, and which cop pulls you over. I really don't know though. I've read a few months ago that HID retrofit was illegal blah, blah, blah. so I had the notion that it was illegal and the cops would bust you and what not....

Yeah, but with BMW's, etc. They go through the trouble of having them D.O.T. approved and what-not. Retrofitting a HID kit from another vehicle to yours isn't exactly retaining OEM.

There are a lot of things needed to keep the BMW, Audi's, etc. legal. And a lot of the retrofit kit's and even OEM from another car, most of the time, do not have everything to keep everything 100% legal.

You can quote me if you want, but it would be better to just show the documentation that comes with their Xenarc kits. Their manuals have a page devoted just to the legality of the lights and recommends keeping a copy in your car for just that sort of thing. I would be a little wary of their auxillary low beams though because state laws vary on those.
