JDM headlight trouble

Has anyone ever had any bad luck with used JDM headlights??(black housing) I am definately going to get these after my suspension, and was thinking "why pay $200+ extra when I could buy used ones off of ebay?" So, is there any reason I shouldn't get used ones? Thanks

well, I bought mine off ebay.

They have definettly been opened up before... when the headlights are on, you can see smudges on the inner plastic housing thing. Also, one isnt tightly sealed, and moisture did get in there once.... One of the mounts was broken in shipping... but body shop had super adhesive that fixed that.... damn im makin it sound really bad... its all up to you

One of mine that i got in the mail has all the mounting brackets broken off. Kinda sucks, but for 325 for both lights, can't beat that.

So how did you install your lights? Also, do you have to take off your bumper or any crazy sh*t like that to install?

when i installed my jdm's, i had to take off the bumper. you also have to wire up harnesses so you can use the h1 and h4 bulbs....but all the work is well worth it. they are definatly one of the best visual modifications you can do to your car....you'll never regret the money and time you spend.

What about the actual lighting compared to the 9005s and 9006s? Is more road lit up? or is it the same.

it looks very similar to the 9005/9006 bulbs of the factory lights, but don't listen to me.....i just put in the cheapest bulbs i could find. i am planning on getting one of the h4 conversion kits once i can save a little cash.

BTW.. how did you guys wire them up? I was thinking running the 9006 wires into the h-4's, and the 9005 for the h1s... i can't really think of a way to make the h-4s use hi/lo.

the way mine are wired up are
--daytime running lights = h1
--lo beams = h4
--high beams = h1 + h4

i think that's how mine are....i'm just going to have to go out and make sure later.

How are the jdm lights really supposed to work??
