JDM headlight relays

I am installing jdm headlights this weekend : ) and i got a question:

I plan on using the high beams, on hondaprelude.com they got a nice wiring diagram, my question is where to get this relay:

to those who have done this, do i need a specific relay? are there any specs i should be aware of, or will any relay do?

thanks

i used the stock relay for the h4 bulbs (high & low), with no problems. the only relay i purchased was the one for the h1 bulbs. i actually purchased a pre-wired foglight kit, around 20 bucks. it came with the switch, relay, and wiring. goodluck!

for that diagram you will need a bosch type relay, you can get one at napa. Just make sure its a 5 pin relay.

I have the JDM headlights being shipped to me right now, so I will need this relay to make my high beams work?

The diagram is only if you want to make it work like real JDM headlights (ie. h4 bulb with high/low beams).

a little confused

So if the outside h4 bulb does low/highbeam, what is the inside bulb for?
I have yet to install my jdm headlights too, I'm waiting on my new hood and bumper to get here.

The inside bulbs (H1) can be used for anything. If you want them to be daytime running lights you can wire them to your ignition (im trying to figure that out right now) or you can wire them to a switch and use them whenever you want.

You will need the relay if you want the hi/low to be in the outer housing. If you want your lights hooked up just like the USDM, then you can just wire hi to the inner bulbs and low to the outer ones. I personally like having the hi/low in one bulb and having an extra set of lights. I have yet to wire the H1s I want to wire them for daytime running.

you actually don't need to purchase any relay to wire the h4 bulbs to work for highs and lows, you can use the stock one. i wired the high beam (9005) bulbs wires into the low beams (9006). i wish i would have documented it to help you. i only used a test light and a friend to click the high beam on and off, and some patience.

the h1's are damn bright! i drive with them on during the day. excellent for safety reasons. once again... goodluck!

Okay...I have the Low beams hooked up, but I want to add the high as well. I don't have a test light or anything like that handy.

Both leads going to the old High beam are reddish. Which one is the high beam lead? Which is ground? And are the Daytime running lights run with the same high beam lead? I thought they might be separate...which would be nice...thanks in advance.

Also, I was just looking at the wiring diagram above...isn't the H4 Ground the top one? I have it wired to the top right now and the low beam works

Has anyone done this with a H4 high/low HID kit...

I want to do the same on my Lude.... problem is neither I or the guy at the shop know how to wire the high beam on the H4.... he doesnt want to risk frying the ballast in getting the high beams to work....

I have the SPW Hella/Osram H4 High/Low HID kit

You just take the high beam lead from the middle bulbs...my high beams and low beams work fine. Just use a test light...on my car it was a red wire with green on one side and red w/ blue on the other...just use a voltimeter or something to find which is the lead...you don't use the ground from the highbeam anymore. I just left the H1's I won't bother using them.

EDIT: WIRE A REGULAR H4 FIRST! GET IT RIGHT, THEN PUT IN THE HID KIT!!

As for my backwards wiring..I think it may be because the H4 bulbs are japanese? Hmm I'm goning to buy some H4's at the store tomorrow so we'll see what the deal is then.
