jdm headlight bulbs

I've been looking into getting some jdm headlights and in the process i've gotten myself confused? I always thought that these headlights used H1 and H4 bulbs. Now I just read something about H4H bulbs (which i've never heard of) and that they are the ones that fit, not just regular H4's. Can anybody tell me if you can just use regular H4's in these lights? Also, if you can use regular H4's, are any modifications needed to use H4 HID's?

Thanks.

I use regular(stock) H4 bulbs in mine....even got my bulbs from my frends stock civic...works fine...i use PIAA H4's too...no fitments problems at all...not sure about the H4H thing myself, but as far as HID goes, depends on the kit...if they are retrofitted or wutever.

The only difference between JDM H4s and USDM H4s is in the harness. USDM H4 harnesses have 3 wires; whereas the JDM harness has two wires. USDM harnesses have an extra wire for a relay. I ran into this problem when I tried to upgrade my headlight harness.

H4H is not a typo...Look it up on ebay...Raybrig carries them. I heard people use them in Japan for proper beam pattern.

After some research, this is what i have found...H4H bulbs are used for JDM Civic and Integra headlight bulbs that dont use a regular H4...it just hit me now too cuz i used to have a 92 Integra with one pieces but couldnt find any H4 bulbs that would fit...so thats why they have the H4H...heres a side by side comparison..

I believe its only a matter of difference in the bases that will allow the light beam to shine properly in those specific headlights...for JDM preludes headlights tho, you need NOT worry about that....from looking at the pic, it looks like the H4H bulb will even stick out too far...Hope this helps a bit.

It would prolly go straight thru, cuz theres no base to mount the bulbs down to the headlight housing...
