Jdm h22a Vtec not working - Honda Prelude Forum

i have a 92 prelude with jdm h22a and p28 ecu

vtec doesnt seem like its working. i force it to 6000 rpm and it just feels like its just acceleratin normally no push, no slight kick, no nothing just normal acceleration feels like a non vtec car.

motor oil levels are normal.
brake lamp does go on

dunno why

read something about oil pressure but dont know where to check.

so what do i look for?

and if i took it to a auto shop would they know?

i have the same engine but in my accord... what i did was check the vtec solenoid and unpluged it and took it out of head and noticed that my mesh screen that it has was filthy. so i went to the store and bought another one cleaned up the dirty area before installing and voala it started to work again.. and if that doesnt help then your vtec solenoid is bad... maybe this can help

where can u get vtec solenoids and how much are they? can u tell if your solenoid is bad?

Are you getting any CELs?

Did you wire up the VTEC Solenoid & Pressure Switch? Correctly?

Unplug the VTEC Solenoid and see if anything changes, same for the Pressure Switch.

Check the VTEC Solenoid Gasket.

thanks all. someone told me to reset ecu and it works now hmmm LOL weird... it pops at 5500 now STRONG AND GREAT (:

another question. i have a stock p28 ecu where can i get it chipped for a h22a?
