JDM H22A = Emissions Problems?

Is it true that these engines can't or have trouble passing the emissions tests here in the good ol US of A? My goal for my car is to drop one of these puppies in it in a few years but i don't wanna like do all my research and set everything up over time to have this done to have my dreams dashed by the state saying I can't drive this car. So i'm just curious from anyone that has done this do you get big probs at the emissions places or do you still pass? Thanks for the responses and no rush, I have nowhere near $3000 for this yet.

with enough emissions controls anything can pass :P

do the JDM's have an EGR valve?

tastyratz: 1850$ for motor alone?, long block h22's should be in the 1400-1500$ shipped range

You will fail on the visual test alone, doesnt matter if it smells clean.
You need to talk to the ARB (Air Rescources Board) and get a permit BEFORE you do the swap. Thay is the only way you can legally pas smog with a JDM engine.

I have a jdm h22a and here in OH I had no problem passing our e-check. I don't think ours is that critical not like CA. I also paid 1200 bucks for the long block and about that much agian for all the externals I needed. But it was way worth it. Peace

I'm in ct and we don't have smog, in fact we don't have emissions right now cuz they are resturcturing everything so its a private thing, i dunno why. But does anyone in ct have the swap done and passed?
