JDM H22: test drive impressions

Took the car out for a spin tonight, after running a compression test and double-checking for fluid leaks. I pulled 210 on all cylinders on the compression test. No fluid leaks, except a small coolant leak on one of the TB lines (really small). The IAB system works just fine, you can see the diaphram move at the proper engine speed.

The car still dosn't have a downpipe, so the exhaust is running straight out the exhaust manifold. After letting the car warm up for 10 minutes or so, I took her out for a spin. I waited untill saturday night (there is a small industrial park one block away) in an attempt to piss off as few people as possible.

Impressions: SHE PULLS LIKE A RAPED APE!! Although the exhaust is ANNOYINGLY loud, you can still hear VTEC engagement and feel the slight increase in acceleration (guess I wired it all correctly). Definitly a HUGE increase in power from the f22. I still didn't have the balls to take it past the 6200 RPM redline indicated on the f22 cluster (old habit, hard to break) and I didn't have very long straights to lewt her rip on. I can't wait till the exhaust is done and she is road legal. . .

I've got two OEM downpipes on the way already. How much are you asking? I might be interested, but I've heard the DC Sports header reaps basically no gains.

Are you going to get a VTEC gauge cluster? I'm glad you're happy with your new motor!

You guys are right. As soon as i got my vtec working i was busting 8k(on the tach) shifts. It pulls Hard all the way up then you start the next gear nice and high.

I love my jdm. But im getting tired of working on it and never driving it. Damn car keeps breaking. Too much power i guess. haha I hope you used thread lock on your flywheel bolts. You dont wana lose them like i did. I should have my car on the road again by tonight. if i dont then it gets towed. haha damn apartment. I think i just have another 2 hours of work and ill be done.

i put a couple carlengths on every import turbo ive raced so id consider a medium turbo or a nice dry 75 shot of NOS. My friend has a 65 shot and the vtec kicks in harder than his n2o.
