Alright, so the swap is underway!! I started working on pulling the ole' f22 out this afternoon. Following the Helms, I'd say I have about 90% of the stuff done necessary to get the motor out. I just gotta take off the VSS, the clutch lines, and clutch damper. . .I think thats it. The biggest PITA so far was the clevis pins on the shift linkages and the exhaust bolts. . .but nothing penetrating lube and a breaker bar couldn't handle. I had to cut the radiator hoses and a few vaccumm lines off, but they were probably due for replacement anyhow. New motor should be arriving tomorrow (fingers crossed). I took a buncha pics. . .but my USB cable is back at school. DOH!!
Yeah, I wanna get a bunch of good pics, because there really isn't any REALLY GOOD write-ups out there. Its a sinch with the helms, but not everyone has that luxury. I was too giddy and forgot to take pics of some steps (removing driveshafts, accessory pumps), so I guess I'll just do those upon reinstallation.
Keep us updated!!
I wish I lived around ya, would be fun to help or observe!! ohwellz
Goodluck on your project, now you can say "Yeah...I've installed an engine in a car" impress the ladies

i remember when i had to take out y friends h23...its a lot of fun when you dont need the motor anymore so you can yank, pull, bang all you want on it...good luck with the swap though
Originally posted by Satan_SRV The helms is stupid, it tells you to take off the slave cylinder or whatever...I just unbolted the clutch line where it first hits the tranny.
red92, you doing a write up? If not that's cool. Just wondering.

Man, I give so much respect to you guys doing your OWN engine swaps... so much at risk, yet you end up making out alright, and you save like 500 bucks. Keep it up!!
