jdm h22 smog legal?

Hey guy's do you know if I can pass smog if I put in the jdm h22
in my 92prelude si
or how can I make it to pass smog

my friend passed his...and he had a 95jdm h22 in his 96 accord...but their was an issue on having an older engine in a newer body...but as far as i know he passed smog

if your friend was in AZ, he wouldnt have passed. we have a law now that if your car is obdII from the factory, it has to remain that way.

my jdm h22 passed smog no problem. i had less than half the legal limits in almost all the categories.

in japan, smog is a bigger issue isnt it? so the engines should be fine

Most suppliers say they are not smog legal. Then again they are probably just trying to cover their ass. But I've heard they usually do.

I don't think Japan is a strict, at least not in the same ways they test for over here. Just be sure to use a catalytic converter and the 02 sensor(s.) By this point 4G's have pretty liberal limits given their age so it shouldn't be too hard to pass smog.

If you keep the cat and other emission devices, it should be okay.

Of course knowing me, I gutted my cat, ran a re-programmed ECU and failed miserably in ALL categories (the first time) I think I was like 10x the limit. I just wanted to see what it actually put out. BUT of course it passed later that day...

i did my smog with my spoon ecu and it still passed.

on the other hand my friend with a b16 did his smog with a skunk2 ecu....LOL....he failed with 6 times the legal limit of C.
