JDM ecu is 118..due to the feul cutoff, and your rev limit should be like 7700, not 7200, redline alone on an h22 is 7400..peace

My Garmin eTrex says the speedlimiter is @ 112mph

My speedometer says like 125, but I *know* that thing is way off.

Yeah that will prob be it, if your CEL light is coming on then your going to be lucky to get vtec tbh, the engine normally drops into limp mode and doesn't switch the cam profile

Hey guys I have a JDM import here in England. The top speed I have had out of it is 130mph with about 1200 rpm to spare!

Are you guys chaning the gearbox aswell cause it seems to be a hell of a drop in power

Our cars can go faster, its just that the jdm ecu's that we have, have a speed limiter of 118.....

Are the JDm's you have direct imports from Japan?
If so surely they should have the same ECU'S or is it put on as part of your import process.
The Jap import I have has 200bhp/6800 PS stock would that be the same of yours.

You might wanna check the following site that has a good comparision table

I also have a JDM Si-VTEC lude in the UK.

All cars in Japan are limited to 112mph (sometimes with a bit of tolerance - so you may see 130 on your speedo).

You can get round this limit using different techniques of using speed converter chips, the complexity of doing it various against the quality of results i.e. simple job - have top speed, but no vtec in 1st gear!! complex job using a switch - have everything. I think you can also use a product called HKS speed limit defencer.

I guess mine must be-delimited as it definately goes past 112mph.
The only reason it didn't go over 130mph was the road running out before bend. It certainly felt like it had more "go" in it.

Just out of interest how would I find out if its had its delimiter by passed?

Find a road where you can go faster

Alternatively, there should be an orange wire going to the ECU that carries the speed reading from the VSS in the gearbox housing, this branches to the speedo, cruise control unit, and ECU. Somewhere between the VSS and the ECU, a little converter chip (maybe just the size of a penny) may have ben fitted to fool the ECU into thinking the speed is 2/3 of what it really is (this is sometimes used to convert JDM KMH readings to MPH readings). If this is done, then you will have top speed, but no VTEC in first gear (because the ECU thinks speed is too low to activate VTEC).

The more advanced way to do it is to put a switching mechanism in, so the VSS reading is only reduced when approaching 112MPH.

Not sure how the HKS gizmo works, but I imagine it's like the second explanation above.

The first choice - finding an open enough road is the best, just try to redline in 5th - if it makes it - youv'e no top speed limit!

I hit 110 mph and it cut my fuel.

I've been to, at least, 8000 rpm before my rev. limiter kicked it.

Maybe your car has been delimited, or maybe when your speedo reads 125 it's not accurate.

not really from what I hear... Everyone just pays about $100 to have the rev limiter and speed governor/limiter removed... They send it off to have it chipped the right way here in the US... Most of these inaccurate speedo readings are probably caused your speedometer being off... Its funny, because this cna easily happen.... If it does, thna just adjust it.. Fin a buddy with a new stock stock stock car and tell him to ride 45 and get up beside him and see what ur reading.. Go up higher and do the same thing.. Then check the rpm vs what they should be at certain speeds.. Its possible to adjust your gauges... I had to adjust mine when I did the EL swap because Iwas riding at 140 mph in 2nd gear at 2k rpm... If you look at it theres 4 phillips head plastic adjusters located on the gauges... 2 for each meter... Just a word of advice if anyone needs to do a little work on your speeds...
