I don't see a rear window wiper. Maybe the Lude's not from Japan, maybe it's a Euro-spec. And that thing probably serves the same purpose as those air freshener things that Vicks Vapo-rub makes, kinda like clearing the air or something. An air filter of sorts.

but is it electric? or is it basically just a vent to the trunk with a filter??

To answer all your queries...

mario24601, euforik, & slo mo: It is, as you might have guessed, an air refiner. It's basically just an in-car filter. The switch for it is on the centre console, down by the hand-brake (next to the switches for the hazard warning lights, half-height aerial (something else I bet you don't have), and dashboard dimmer). It has four settings: off, 1, 2, & 3.

euforik: Here's your in-trunk shot. I had to do some pretty contortionistic manoeuvres to get this shot, so I hope you're happy.

preludechic: There is a rear wash/wipe. It's just out of shot (to the left).

eurofik: Yes, it's a really nice car. I like it a lot.

marshdoggg: Yes, it works. Yes, you can hear it. It just sounds like a fan, and it increases in loudness with the higher settings.

U.K VTEC: You don't live in/near Hounslow, do you? I saw a car very similar to yours whilst walking down near Hounslow Central station some months back.
