JDM Folding Mirror : Driver Folds Less?

I think I might have read this somewhere but I think at the time I misunderstood and thought members were talking about the glass rather than the assembly. So is it normal for the drivers side to fold less than the passengers? If so.... What the hell is the point of that? If not why the hell am I getting that?

Just to throw this out there...... Do you guys think it would be possible to change the interal components of the mirrors (internal gears) so that both sides have the passenger side gears and the complete folding?
Another thing.... Why the hell would you design it like that. Why would one fold more. Just seems pointless to me.

wait a min, both of mine fold completly in. Did you try greasing up the gears and such because iirc those motors are controlled through a limit switch or a timed switch. Either way if it is binding on the side, it would cause this.

no I don't think this would work.. considering that they fold in oposite direction. The distance between both of the mirrors should be the same. How much more is the pass. side folding vs. the drivers side? if the mirrors are in full open position (like for everyday driving) & then you push the button to fold, once it folds & stops (but it doesn't fold all the way), if you pull on the mirror(s) housing to make it fold more... & it DOES fold in more (manually, but with hardly or no resistance at all) then your gear(s) is(are) off & you need to reset it(them).

To reset the mirror(s) heres what you need to do... now the sound that comes out of the mirros when doing this might scare you .. but they should work after wards.
Have your mirror(s) fully open. Push the button to fold the mirrors. Which ever mirror doesn't fold all the way, Manually push that mirror housing back to the open position without pressing the fold button. Once that mirror is in the open position, press the button again (remember, the relay thinks both mirrors are currently folded), you will hear the gears working ... then you will hear a POP at the very end. Once you hear this pop, press the folding button one more time.... & the mirror (that was giving you probs) should now fold & open all the way... if it still doesn't fold completely.. start the reset steps one more time.

ALSO .. MAKE SURE your relay is connected to a TRUE 12V constant. The reason why is because, if you have the relay hooked up to just a regular power wire... every time you turn the lude off, you loose power to the relay & the relay will automatically reset to a closed position; regardless if the mirrors are open or closed. If this happens & the mirrors are in the open position... & you press the button...... you will hear the gears running but nothing will happen ... & the mirrors will POP. This can be annyoing if you are trying to show off & you press the button .. noting happens except for a pop.. hehe.

Hope this helps... (once again.. I am not responsible for any damages that may occur when attempting the steps indicated above). Let me know if you have anymore Q's.

do you mean to switch the adjust ment of hte mirror or the mirror motor internal.

i have both the JDM mirror, and the JDM motor int he USDM housing., you cant chagne teh great to move it anymore, becayse it is more of a metal limiter, then a gear thing.

now it might be possible to change the miorror adjustment, i think that it has more to do with what angle the mirror sit at.

On my car, both mirrors folded in completely.

It was a proper JDM car.

To add, sometimes people will brush past the car and if the mirrors are still fully out and the person knocks them in, the mechanism that folds them will be out of sync and the mirror won't fold fully in. This happened to me on many occasions and what I did to fix it was to push the button to fold them but hold the mirror for a second so the motor tries to move it but you prevent it from doing so, then let it go and repeat the process until the mirror catches up with the motor, if you get what I mean. When you do it you'll hear a clicking noise where the mirror is being held back, don't worry about it, it does no harm.

Does all that make sense??
