jdm fog install prob

I have a jdm fog light switch, so im trying to wire everything up. I have wired up the switch exactly how it is supposed too ( and even in every other configuration) but im still not getting a light on my switch even. I got a cheap fog light relay at autozone, is this the problem? Do i really need a honda relay instead of an off brand?? If there is anything anyone can do to help i would really appreciate it..im ready for these to be working!

Are you talking about the light in your switch not coming on?

The light in the switch isn't coming on, the relay doesn't make any clicking noise, and the foglights haven't worked one single time since we installed them. We've tried 2 relays of different brands, we tried my JDM foglight switch, and we checked every fuse that would even come close to relating.

You can Wire the Switch directly. Or just get a relay from any honda junk car. The relays all work.

Are you saying that the relay we had from the Autozone ricer section will not work, even though it plugs in directly? Where does the foglight switch harness run through? Is it part of the lower dash harness?

there are two places under the dash that the relay "Could" connect. i think you have plugged the relay into the oem factory security system. look for the plug missing a relay right under the steering coloum.

Do you have a fuse for the fogs? I don't remember if there even is a fuse for the fogs, but if they didn't come on the car, you might not have one in its spot.

fuse for the fogs is the same as the headlights.

may sound dumb do you have the headlights on thats the whole point of the relay, and make sure your high beems arnt on. they will only come on with the low beams not the parking lights or the high beams.

yeah headlights have been on and there is a fuse for fogs in the fuse box under the steering coloum, its good i checked it. MY guess is whoever installed this viper alarm on it messed some of the wires up (it has been done very messy and unprofessional)..and the alarm dosent even work nowadays. Im taking it to my buddy tomorrow and we are going to go through all the wiring, i bet if we follow the harness up we will find our problem.

The relay is plugged into the right spot. We tripple checked it. A white wire coming from the main harness of the alarm was wired into the relay harness. I removed this wire and repaired the harness. Still nothing.

the fogs only work when the headlights are on and in low beam. so if your trying to just simply turn them on it wont work.

What type of relay did you buy? From what I remember normal relays won't just plug into the stock harness there is a "sub harness" that is required.

^ Mine work with the high beams on, then again, I'm also using a paperclip as a switch so that might have something to do with it

Do you have any pictures of the relays you have tried? Could be that their pinout is different than Honda relays...

The sub harness is just to make it easier to plug the relay in. 4 pin Honda relays plug right in without it

the sub harness makes it so you can mount the relay to a bolt on the cruise controll computer. all i did was zip tie it to the wiring harness.

Did you test the relay harness for power? I had a problem with mine and that was it.

dont really need a meter to check the relay, just apply power to it and listen for the click. just an easy quick way to check if ya dont have a meter.

I had the same problem with my 94 and I found out I had the wrong harness. There are two of them that almost look identical, they are both brown and both wrapped in blue tape. The fog harness was harder to find because it was wrapped on top of the steering column. The right harness has a wire with a yellow stripe the other does not. Now I have another problem, the relay buzzes when fog lights are on even if I just cross the two fog wires. Has anyone figured out the buzz problem yet?
