Just wondering if anyone in here has a JDM engine in there car but using a USDM p13. Just wondering if there are any problems i.e. check engine light coming on and stuff like that. Appreciate any info.

An ECU.

But doesn't Japan run on higher octane gasoline? Hence the higher compression ratios?

Yeah, I'm sure it's around 100 or so. My car is supposed to run on it but we get 98 over here and I had the ECU remapped to suit it.

A P28 is from a SOHC Civic EX. I use it for hondata because a hondata doesn't work with a p13.

It's okay to run 93 octane gasoline in a JDM engine. Even though they are tuned for 100 octane, they'll still run on 93 easily. Just don't go below 89 octane, to be on the safe side.

Low octane + high compression + hard driving = detonation. Use premium and you'll be okay.

Most JDM motors are 10.6:1 cr, unless you score yourself a Type-S or SIR S-Spec which are 11.0:1 cr.
There isn't much difference between the two motors except for the different pistons, cams, distributor (internal coil), and fuel rail (opposite direction).

JDM ECU's have slightly more aggressive ignition timing and fuel maps too. They're designed to run on 100 octane, but I haven't experienced any problems on 93. The A/F readings were still in the 12-range when I put the car on the dyno.

To the guys with the JDM H22 swaps,

How much did the entire swap cost you? Who did the install for you? And WHERE did you get your swap from? I'm looking for a REPUTABLE place to purchase an H22 from....JDM or not.

Thanx!
