JDM corner sensor

There is a JDM fog switch on ebay right now, and sitting right next to it is a "corner sensor". Does anybody know what this is, or have any information about it?

you must've just missed the thread that was posted about it, someone was selling just the corner switch. It's what they call "Sonar", it's basically what the fancy cars here have, but the good ol' Japanese have had it for some time. You back up, it alerts you when you're getting close to something I guess in the Prelude's case it works the same, but for the corners. There will be sensors, so that button is useless unless you have them, but I was thinking the other day after seeing the other thread, I wonder if another car's sensors could be used in tandem with this button. I suppose there's plenty of wiring, and I dunno if that works through the car's ECU, or there is a separate device just for the sensors... worth looking into though, I'm still getting used to my car's limits, my 2nd Gen was soo much smaller lol.

yeah, I guess I did miss the other thread. I did a search for "corner sensor" and I didn't find anything relavent. I figured it was what you said it was, but it must just be incredibly rare, cause I've never seen anything about them. I agree, it would be fun to hook one up, at least just for the "JDM coolness", but without some wiring diagrams, and a list of parts, I think it would be a bit tough. Furthermore, you kind of lose that JDM appeal if you use parts from other cars. I dunno, maybe a Windstar rear bumper would fit...lol.

That can't be off a 4G? Looks more like a 5G

you're right, it does look like the holder off a 5th gen. The seller even makes the comment that it would take some cutting to get that piece to fit. Good thought ds2000.

i didnt think it was for a 4g either, but here is what my friend had to say about it

"its the wrong sensor from my knowledge.. the 97-01 ludes in japan came with bumper sensors front and rear to back up and not hit curbs etc.. the 4th gen never did.. its looking like that switch but not exactly sure.. as i know one of the jdm 4th gens had the foglight switch in the tweeter and there was a dsp system with a center speaker etc.."

The thread I posted about it was a longer button that looked like it fit in the center console. I'm not sure if 5th gens have fitments for those longer buttons or not, so I'm assuming it was for a 4th gen.

Can any of those switches (not the whole panel) fit in any of the slots in 4th gen interior?

Yeah, they fit where the cruise control, dimmer, and sunroof buttons are.
