entire heater unit - the mode control motor is on the left side along with a white intake thing with a hose connected. (i don't think that hose is on the usdm ones)
and this is a close up of the airmix control motor which replaces the usdm setup that uses a wire cable.
anyone know what that rectangular aluminum piece with the orange wires is? it was mounted against the heater core before I removed it.
I also gained another set of sensors, another main control unit, and the heater valve. there's going to be some fabrication needed to mount the airmix control motor in place of the cable setup on my heater box. I'll have to remove the heater unit, which will mean draining the coolant and removing the dash. right now I'm just trying to make sure I have all the parts and planning to set aside a couple days to finish the whole thing in one go.
I saw an auction on ebay for the JDM climate control, 3 sensors (sun, interior temp, external temp) and the fan/heater box with the airmix controller and all that mess. Would it be easier to get one of those? I see them every month or so, they usually go for about 125 to 150 bucks.

I would personally wait until a good writeup exists, too many problems from those who are trying. Dayum though, seems like a lot of work to get rid of Honda's incredibly functional manual setup
BTW, does anyone find it ironic that the automatic climate controller is being advertised as JDM when the writing is in English?
you're right, I think most of the work is just in figuring out how to do it, since there isn't a writeup available right now. as far as hooking the thing up, it shouldn't take more than a day.

could be.. its weird that I haven't heard anyone mention that sensor before and it's missing from those jdm diagrams that were posted.
does anyone have pictures of where the interior sensors are mounted on the jdm ludes (i.e. sunlight sensor, interior temp sensor)? I'll need to make holes for those when I remove the dash.

hmm.. I saw some pics of 5th gens but all exterior pics. I don't know how to read japanese so it was pretty much just hit or miss.
as an update, I got bored today and wired up my airmix control motor. pressing the up/down button for the temp control made the motor turn back and forth, so it definitely works! just need to mount it to my heater unit now.

I'll take some pics today and post them after work for you.

thanks a lot.. btw, I thought the interior temp sensor had a round grill on it? at least that's what mine looks like. the one in that pic looks like its rectangular.
here's a pic of the one I have, the interior temp is on the right.
That's the only interior temp sensor i've seen that is round! and your sun sensor looks more square than slanted!
