I have a 93 Si and i am looking to do the full JDM swap with the axles and all. My question is, do the JDM ludes have ABS? I have read post of people having ABS probs after the swap when they used the JDM axles because the JDM axles don't have some kind of speed sensor ring. Is this the case with all JDM swaps, should i just go ahead and transfer my H23 axles onto the JDM swap to make sure that my ABS works?
I can't say if all of them has it but my car certainly does. Although,I would assume that with the Japanese being a fairly safety conscious country that all Preludes there would have ABS.
But if your car has ABS, you could just use the axle from your car, you don't have to use the JDM ones

My 4th Gen doesnt have it and I know of quite a few others that dont...
A lot of Jap imports dont have ABS including the STI imprezas (old shape)...
Also a lot of Jap market cars have despeced brakes, eg the JDM Supra has smaller brakes than UK spec....

I'm aware of this, I'm just trying to find out if some of the JDM swaps have ABS ready axles. I'm sure they will charge extra for labor if they have to swap my H23 axles for the H22s that are already attached to the tranny, so I'm trying to avoid doing that if there is any chance of keeping ABS with the H22 axles.
they'll charge you extra? Damn... then you got a jacked up place, if anything, it's easier for them to use your h23 axle because they don't have to take it out of the spindle and just pop it off the tranny....
How much are they charging for your labor already?

In case i didn't mention it earlier, i want to do the FULL JDM swap (with engine, LSD tranny, and axles already assembled), not just the engine swap. I haven't checked on the labor prices yet, but i'm assuming it would be more work to swap over my current H23 axles. In order to do the full JDM swap all they have to do is raise the whole drivetrain into place and attach the support beams and wheels, in order to use my current axles, they would have to take the axles off of my current tranny, take them off of the JDM tranny and swap the current ones onto the JDM tranny. So logically, it seems they would charge more for that since it is a longer process. But i guess i just need to go get an estimate on it all.
May i remind you if you do, do a swap, you should change the clutch (since you have no idea what kind of conidition it is in), a nice tune up including, timing belt, accessory belts, spark plugs, oil, oil filter, water pump, i also recommend that you change your front and rear main seal (after a year, i find out i have a leak in my rear main seal, was a pain in the ass to change). Just some things you should do while the swap is out, so they'll have to disassemble that "full" swap before even putting in your car.
It'll save you alot of headache and pain in the long run. Especially the clutch, seals, timing belt, water pump... much easier to do while its out.
A full jdm swap is about 2300-2500, tune-up parts (with ACT clutch) can range another 500 and then labor should be another 500.
I didn't get charged extra to change the flywheel, clutch, water pump, timing belt and etc. when they did the swap for me.

I think i should move out west, nobody i know around here will swap anything for only $500. Guess i need to look into it, there aren't too many places that even have the know-how or patience to do this kind of stuff, mostly a bunch of american car loving mechanics around here that hate jap cars... I'm pretty tired of it.
I'd love to know how to fix this, my ABS light is on all the time. I did an automatic to manual swap using all the parts out of a bb4 JDM clip i had sent from singapore. VA wont pass it through inspections unless the ABS light isn't on, i'm thinking about just disconnecting the actual ABS light behind the dash but i feel safer with ABS, has someone figued away around this. I couldn't have used the stock h23a axles because it was the automatic to manual swap, Help!!!

it will only take them 2 seconds to pop the axles out of the tranny..literally 2 seconds...besides they cant put th engine in like that anyways, they should remove the axles before dropping it in..unless the lift the car, and lower it ont the motor, but even then they should remove the halfshafts..just safer and makes sense..if they wont do it, tell them u want to..all you do is use a pry bar and pop the pass side axle out..the use a hammer and tap the driver side axle off the intermediate shaft..very easy...and i dont know why shops charge so much for the swap its so easy...if u lived closer id do it for you for 350 or so..peace
where in FL you live, i might have the lude in flordia begining of december, i'm at school in daytona
