"In Japan, their engines are beaten cause they have to be junked soon."

Okay. I was talking with this guy from around here.. He does engine work or something of the sort. He told me that "In Japan, they don't allow cars with more than 30K miles on the roads. So they drive the crap out of their cars while they have them." Then he went on saying that that is one of the reasons why you shouldn't buy a JDM engine. I'm having trouble believing him

I've heard something along those lines from a few different sources as well.

Think of how many Americans treat lease cars. No oil/fluid changes, drive the hell out of them, etc. I think there will be those people who drive their cars hard, and those that wont. It's pretty universal.

As far as the 30K kilometers (I've only heard it as 30k km's, not miles), I don't know that to be fact, but like I said, I've heard it a few times before... and I know Japan is very very strict about driving. There's a write up in one of the newest mags (it's either SCC or Super Street) about driving in Japan, what a hastle it is to lisence a car, the tremendous amount of money it costs to own a car, and the rigorous driving test you must complete. It's a great article.

Japanese respect their cars about 100x more than Americans do. They couldn't concieve of mistreating them like that. It's a retarded American concept that someone would treat a lease, rental, or any vehicle for that matter, that way.

I heard that about the engines also, but I don't know if I believe it. And also, I would never move to Japan if I have to go through that much of a pain in the ass and lose that much money to drive a damn pinto(which would be about all i could afford after having to pay that much money for all of those stupid taxes and stuff!!!!

You say the Japanese respect their cars 100 times more than we do??? What about all of the japanese people over here??? (No offense to the ones on this board ) I see alot of Japanese people here with trashed ass cars and vans and stuff. I guess they left all of their good manners towards cars at home huh?

keep in mind that the speed limits over there are mostly around 40km/hr. Its not exactly easy to trash your motor at 40km/hr in a distance of under 30,000km. but it can be done I am sure.
