I've had it.. (so sorry!)

Well, I got about three hundred bucks from my parents for Christmas. I had saved up a whole lot of dough to pay off part of my debt (about $1000 with the 300). But my car's been needing to be taken into the shop to find out why I need to fill up my reservoir with coolant every 4 days. Turns out, my car gave something to me. Yet another problem. Water pump is leaking or something and needs to be replaced. The price of the pump isn't so bad. $89.95. It's the price of the labor. $330! With all taxes and coolant and what not, it's almost $500.00 total! Yet another problem. I was thinking, wow! I can finally replace those wheel covers with some WHEELS! But no..
Aside from that, I still need to take my car back in to Aamco for them to do their damn warranty work and fix the sound that I found happening (loud!) the day after I brought it home from it's month long vacation from my home. I called Aamco the other day to see if it would be a good time to take it in, and they said that the best time to bring it in would be a week from this upcoming Monday!! Good God!

The car has been fun while it hasn't needed repairs, even with the lowest model 'S', it still has good-enough passing power, decent acceleration, and sweet styling. I still get comments on my car as though it were brand new.

Frankly, I'm sick of paying the assload of money that I don't have on this car. I've spent close to $4,000 in repairs. Oh, that's apart from spending too much money on the car in the first place (last Jan. 1994 Prelude S with 76K- $9,500) I'll be damned if I spend another dime in repairing this car. Someone else will just have to find out about the water pump, cause I'm not going to pay the $500 it's going to cost to replace. This is (was?) a piece of sh!t. The reason why I say was is because I've replaced/fixed so much crap it's hard to find what else can go wrong So, I'm going to put an ad in the local paper in a day or so. Hope no one else ever has to tread the walk I've trod. Adieu.

P.S.- I will only sell if I can get a reasonable amount of money for it. I thank absolutely everyone who's answered my questions on here or has put up with my crap. I'll probably still hang around, and hopefully, if things work out, I'll find another (mechanically sound) VTEC prelude in it's place.

ouch... u got a crappy one

best bet is to find a friend or something to do all the work for u. I had my timing belt and valve adjustment done for $200 by a family friend, right in my driveway

oh well, good luck with your next car!

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Hopefully everything works out for you in the future.

Personally, I wouldn't give up on the car. You have obviously spent a lot of money on the car and you probably won't get that money back if you sell it. If the water pump is leaking, I'm assuming that it is still the original. With this said, then it is probably time to change your timing belt and drive belts as well. Preventive maintenance is part of owning a car. If you add up all the preventive maintenance that has been performed on my car, it's about $2500. I know it isn't the $4000 that you spent on your car, but when, I purchased my car, I changed my timing belt, all drive belts, water pump, cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, rotors resurfaced, engine flushed, valves adjusted, and air conditioner serviced so that I would not have costly repairs in the future. Take good car of your car and it will return the favor.

I know it sucks because you were looking forward to buying some new rims, but we've all been there.

Don't give up on her!

Mark
