i had an intermittant problem with my heater controls ever since i bought my car. a/c would work when it wanted to. rear defroster would do the same, and sometimes stay on even after i shut it down. lights would flicker on an off.

sometimes if i give her a lil "technical tap" here and there she'd kick over and turn on, but not for long. the selector for air direction was also crappin out on me. changing only when it wanted to.

im posting here cause i know at least 2 others from this board had the same problem. these symptoms were bad enough that i was gonna buy a used unit for $120. good thing i didn't...

i pulled the assy out and low and behold....the female socket that is soldered to the pc board was wobbling. i opened that assy up got a closer look. the connections were all cracked and loose. you could see why it would work and then not...just the way the socket is positioned would determine that.

i pulled out my trusty soldering/desoldering station and revived the connections. put her back and good as new. everything works perfect now. all switches, and air direction selector thingy works even though it wasn't part of the socket i fixed but of another....at least not in whole.
