Thanks!

Yeah, I hear AEM is good, my other car is an S2000 and all the guys on the s2ki.com forum get the AEM CAI's for their S's as well. However, what's all this business about the "air by pass" valve? And having to cut the tubing to install it? Sounds like a major *****.

Oh, and two other options I was also looking at are the DC Sports intake and the HKS powerflow filter. Any experience with these?

If you live in CA, get an AEM CAI cause they are CARB legal. Also, if you live where it doesn't rain much, do not get the bypass valve. My bypass valves fell apart in 6 months, and it was one of the ones that wasn't recalled.

The bypass valve isn't hard at all to install. Just buy a cheap hacksaw, and cut out the designated width section out of it. It makes you feel confident that you have it, when your in a rain storm.
I have an AEM CAI and you cant beat the sound it makes; not to sure about the perfomance gains though.

AEM I have had mine now for like almost five years. I got one of the early models that came in two pieces already from AEM. Does make it nice if in rainy weather just change it to a short ram. But with out any question get the AEM

My vote goes for the SR buy AEM... dont listen to me... but I used to own an intake company (www.frankencar.com) and i still believe SR's are the best...

intakes are pretty much the same thing if you really think about it. a metal pipe then a filter. i would go custom. i don't know if anyone tried it or not, but the blitz sus filters are awesome. you can actually feel the air coming inside the cone if you put your hand in. it's actually stainless steel metal, and all you got to do when it's dirty, is just rinse it with water and everything comes off. dries quickly and you'll be back on the road again.

I'd go with a short ram for the top end gains over the CAIs. Probably AEM just because it matches my fuel components.

I used to have an RS Akimoto intake...way back from the old days. And it had no brackets or anything, the mandrel bent tubing just kind of sat there. And last year, when I finally uninstalled it, I noticed that the part of the tubing that rested against the passenger side shock tower had a hole in it, possible from the frictin and the rubbing. So I guess for a long while all this stray air was just going into my engine.

Wouldn't short ram suck in hotter air than a CAI since it's closer to the engine?

I've got the HKS SPF and it's good. Does it give gains? Don't know, maybe...but it sounds nice and the fitting kit is excellent, there are brackets supplied which bolt to original holes to stop the pipe moving around. I'd buy one again.
