intake rattle

I just recently installed an AEM cai on my 92 Si. It worked perfectly for a while but now im getting this rattling noise in between gears. It comes in kinda at the same time a blowoff valve goes off. It only happens when i accelerate hard....or accel into high R's. Sometimes it even happens when i down shift. I checked all of the connections and those little metal brackets, the rubber washer etc and everything is tight. Why is is still rattling???

I would suspect you are missing something in the mounting or it's not the intake- I don't think it would be anything else.

Moving to 4th gen since you'll get more feedback there.

did you make the hole big enough for cai to fit through? you might want to try enlarging the hole with a dremel and then putting a piece of rubber around it...

I reccomend that too, my boy had the same problem you described, after we made the hole larger it did't happen. doesn't hurt to try.

Thats probably just the sound of the intake rubbing against that hole it decends down into. Everytime your engine "torques" back when you are on and off the gas, it rubs. Mine used to do the same thing. Try insulating the hole in which the intake goes down into. Any kind of soft rubber that would stick to the intake or the edges of the hole should fix it.

Eww.... Intake rubbing against the whole... I think if this keeps on happening, your intake will have a big cut on it
