if you are in CA, you want to get an intake that's CARB exempt, or else, you won't pass the visual of smog check, cold air will be a better choice

AEM, Injen are some popular brands but pricey, CP is a more economic brand that's CARB exempt

so far, the best price i can find for AEM CAI is www.import-store.com

CAI usually extend down to the bottom of the passenger side fender where cool air is usually present and sucks in air from there instead of short ram which does suck in some cool air but some air from the hot engine bay as well.

in a cold air intake, the filter sits inside the bumper where there is cooler air. a short ram just takes in warmer air from right next to the battery.

oh, dont believe those "proven 10hp gain" things

i heard good things and bad things about by-pass valve, but if it's not a big damp you're crossing you should be ok

I live in Jacksonville, and it rains pretty heavily here as well. When I first got the AEM CAI, I didn't put the bypass valve in and it was pretty nice. A few days of heavy rain prompted me to buy the bypass valve, seeing as that I just dropped the H22 in, I didn't feel like taking the chance of hydro-lock. To be honest, I didn't really notice any real difference at all putting the bypass valve in. I never dyno'd it so I can't be honest as to whether there was any real loss or gain. The only thing I noticed was the vacuum sound disappeared...but that's nothing compared to the peace of mind I have. Haven't had any problems with the bypass valve. If I do, I'll be sure to post on it.
