intake manifold

I was looking on ebay the other day and saw a ported and polished intake manifold for an S model with the EGr block for sale, about 200 bucks. I talked to the guy and he said it was good for 15-20 Hp's (bull****???) I'm not sure this is true, and I'm also thinking that this mod would prevent my 94 S from passing inspection. If anyone could drop some knowledge on the subject, I'd be much appreciative

black 94 S, CAI, strut tower bar, rims w/kumho's

Ported and polished intake will give you upto 25bhp, don't know about the inspections but I'd be careful, there $1500 on mmrusa.com I think

that seams really cheap for a ported an polished intake manifold. up to 25 hp is correct depending on what other mods you have. You won't see the best performance until you get the head port matched. Cams gears would also help as well as more aggresive cams. That kind of work runs about $800 around here, 1500 for the head job included. $200 seems kinda cheap

I'de make sure a reputable shop did the work and ask for receipts. There is a such thing as taking too much material off on a port job. Try and find out what the new port measuments are VS stock

woah, you can really gain that much from just ported intake manifold? I thought it doesn't really do much w/o a p&p head. What do you think about getting rid of the butterfly on h22a manifold and porting that sucker out a bit? I was thinking about doing that and slapping on an overbored TB too. Would I see any gains from just doing the manifold and no headwork whatsoever?

The key phrase is highlighted below..it's UP TO, DEPENDING ON OTHER MODS
