Im trying to install the new stick into the power antenna unit.

the stick that can break if you go into a car wash with your radio on

yeah well my gf did that and i bought a new stick, needs to be installed but i have no idea who to put it in there. i searched and downloaded a helms manual for the 4g and did a few other sites with no luck.

Yea. first you have to pull out the old antenna and cord, to get the toothed line you have to take the cover off the motor. Once that is removed then slide the new toothed line and antenna through the hole with the antenna down and the teeth facing the wheel. Push the antenna all the way in, then wrap the toothed part around the wheel and power the antenna up.

you'll need a friend (perhaps your GF that screwed it up in the first place ) to power the radio on and off several times until the motor sucks the base down to the its normal position at the top of the tube.....wow- just realized that sounds a little "inappropriate"

Anyways, another big tip is to compare the teather (flexible plastic with teeth that wrap around the motor) length to the new one. If the old one is much shorter, then part of it could have broken off inside the motor reel - in which case you will need to completely remove the p.ant assemby from the trunk and take the motor reel apart to get out the pieces.

I've done these 100 times...let me know if you have any other questions.

I bought my Daily driven lude back in July 2005. It had the antenna stuck all the way up and it was bent. One day i got pissed and ripped the **** off. I now have the replacement antenna with the white teeth. Are you saying i can pull the broken antenna out without taking the motor completely apart? Then i can just pull the new one in?

Yes - you can do the whole thing without removing and taking apart the motor.

However, once you get the old one out (from the top) you need to compare the teather (white plastic line with teeth) to the new antenna. If it appears that a significant amount (more than 1/3rd) is missing from the old one, then you will need to remove the motor assembly and take off the cover of the reel to remove the broken piece(s) - then reassemble and reinstall. Continue normal installation after that.

A little OT here, but is there anyway to just stop the antenna from going up?

Mine stopped going down after you shut off the car and is a PITA to put down manually.
