Installing my JDM 1 pieces today/tonight, need a refresh...

Hey guys,

I did a search and nothing useful came up. Can someone refresh my memory on how to install these things? Is it just connect the wires for the low beam housing for the USDMs to the low beam housing on the JDMs? and same for the high beams?

I'm not keeping the stock bulbs though so that doesn't really help me out. I'm going to do what most people and that is keep the H1/H4 setup that comes with the JDMs. I believe that is the easier way, but i'm a bit skeptical. Thanks though. Anyone else?

yo slo mo, how many wires did you have hanging out on the JDM low beam harness? One of mine has 2 and the other has 3. I always have the worst luck with my sh!t.

Here's a pic of the harnesses. Now from what i understand, the H4 bulb worked as a high and low beam. So that means i really only need 2 of the wires to make it work as the low beam, right? After reading the www.hp.com article this is what it seems. Can someone verify this and let me know what you did.

I can verify that...H4 can only be used for low beam and H1 for high beam...just splice the 9006 wires to the H4 harness and the 9005 wires to the H1 harness..the end

same here..mechanical is fun and isn't that hard..well it can be..but it's mainly elbow grease u need to put into it..electrical is tricky..the slightest mistake can fuk up ur entire system..creating a short that will be hard to trace..BUT that shouldnt discourage u..hahahaha

DONE!! back is broken but it's worth it. Going to have pics as soon as i wash my car next.
First i must say that they look f-ing great. Definitely enhacnes the look of our cars. Secondly, the OEM foglights are amazing. I can't believe how much i like them. Couple of things that are buggin me though. First is how the hell do you adjust the headlight? There's no screw to adjust the vertical axis of the headlight like the one on the USDM lights. There's gotta be a way, no? Second, I was going to wire the H4s to be on high beam at all times but the harnesses i got wouldn't let me do it. I think i'm going to go pick up Civic H4 harnesses and do that soon. Third, for some reason my right headlight is a tiny bit cloudy inside the lens while the left is ok. It's really not that noticeable but to freaks like us it can get under our skin. How did you guys wire your H4 bulbs? highs or lows all the time? But the biggest bug to me is the adjustment issue, i need to raise the damn projection of my lights because they are tad too low. Oh and are any of you guys running aftermarket H4s and H1s? I want ones that are brighter than stock, not just whiter and bluer. There's gotta be more choices to choose from because of the fact that they are H4s and H1s now. Any thoughts?

Tom,

The adjustments on the JDM's are located on the back of the housing. There are a few dials in the back which look like bottlecaps. You have to stick the head of a flathead screwdriver into the slots on the bottlecap and turn the dials whichever way is necessary.

My lights are wired with the H4's as the low beams only and the H1's as the High beams. I'm using Polarg superwhites in my lights. Very bright with a blue tint which I like very much.

Glad to hear you got them installed without a problem.

Mark

Good to hear..one more JDM headlight conversion on the streets. Whoohoo!

About the H4/H1 set up. I have not seen on Prelude that can hook up the H4 to do BOTH low beam and high beam. I'm happy with the current set up like mark94 said. I got aftermarket bulbs and they're "ok". Stock is always brighter, in my opinion. PIAAs would probably be the way to go though. Pricy but well worth it from what I hear.

Adjusting the lights is exactly what Mark94 said. Bottlecap looking knobs that you adjust slowly with a flathead.

The fogginess in your lamp could be the bulb...or maybe the housing. Let's hope it's the bulb. If it's the housing, you may have some sorta leak that fogged up the lens. I highly doubt it though. Extremely rare especially for JDMs.

I believe the OEM fogs are both USDM and JDM. The same thing. Unlike Gen 5s. JDM fogs for the Gen 5s are obviously different from USDM. I don't really see the difference with the Gen 4 though. Can anyone can tell me otherwise?

Autodynamic.com MIGHT be mass producing these headlights in the near future. They will probably go for the same price as the Accord JDMS they have for 300. It all depends on the demand.

And what about using a HID kit with these headlights? Has anyone tried them. They do make H4 kits.
