Installed JDM CC and now my SRS light is on

Hey guys,

You may have seen my thread on my JDM CC install. I have a problem that I have to fix now.

When I took out the dash I had to install the red short connectors on the airbags to avoid them killing me (never a good thing ). I know I am supposed to not reconnect the battery until I was finished and had the airbags hooked up again but I wasn't about to button everything back up only to find I forgot something. So I reconnected the battery to test the CC while the airbags were disconnected. Now that I have the whole thing back together I am getting an SRS light. I pulled the code and they were 1-1 and 2-1. These are related to an open in the drivers and pass airbags respectively. I rechecked that I plugged them back in and they seem to be fine but the light won't go away.

I guess my question is, how to you clear the memory on the SRS computer so it can see that the bags are plugged in again. I would really like to avoid paying the $75 to have the Dealer fix a simple problem.

Thanks in advance,

Nevermind guys,

I just reread the SRS section in the Helm's and it tells you how to reset it. That is one of the strangest procedures I have ever done. You have to jump the yellow connector down by the service check connector. Then turn on the ignition, when the SRS light goes out you have to remove the jumper within 4 seconds. The the SRS light will come back on, you then have 4 more seconds to reconnect the jumper at which point the light will go out again. When the light goes out you have 4 seconds to disconnect it again at which point the SRS light blinks twice and the memory is reset. To make this better I did it in my underwear as I didn't want to wait until tomorrow.

The light is now off and my biggest problem with the CC install is fixed

Later,

hahaha i understand things better visually, so as i was reading i was picturing following the steps you described to reset the SRS unit, then you just had to throw in the part about you doing it in your underroos so of course i got a mental picture of that too!.... hahah thanks... a lot...

Sorry about that. I was just trying to relate that it was one of the weirdest procedures I have done in a while. I appologize for unneeded/unwanted visuals.

The jumper is just a paperclip. It is just like jumping the connector on the CEL plug.
