installed foglights switch, need dash repair kit!

So I installed my foglights switch last night. Took me about 4-5 hours. Made such a huge mess inside the car, I took both seats out today and vacuumed it. Anyways, when I first installed it, it looked fined, but the when I took a pic, it looked very crooked. I guess it was the way I was sitting and installing it that made it look straight, but then when I sat up, it just did not look right. So I tried fixing it, but it didn't look so good. so now I have gaps around my switch that I need to fix.

Like I said, it didn't look bad at first, but when I had to re-angle it, all the gaps started popping out.

Is there anyway to fix that part of the dash, is there any kind of kit to repair it?

Thanks

2 things:

1. Ever heard of a dremel?
2. Measure twice, cut once.

I cut that with a drill, Im not so good at doing things like that as you can see, lol. It's not really that bad, the camera is kinda exaggerating. my other excuse is that I was doing it late at night with the only light being the interior light. oh, and whats so special about a dremel, or should I ask: What is a dremel?

A dremel is a multi-purpose tool. It cuts, drills, sands etc. - you just have to change the bit.

FYI next time: A drill is NOT meant for cutting.

I don't know if it would be big enough, but you could buy the switch holder for the 5th gen ludes with the change holder. It may be large enough to replace your factory switches and the hole that you cut. I think you can get them on HAP, but I haven't really looked for them. Also, I agree wiht 4thgenready2go, that mugen bumper looks sweet. How did you mount the fogs?

Damn !!!! i m not sure not so sure on how to repair that, but keep searching. Another advice for furture installs, when ur not sure, like someone said up top, measure 2wice, i d say a lot more then that, but mosf of all, ONLY CUT AS YOU NEED. you never wanna go too much, and goin too little can save you some problems. You should have started with a small hole, and worked your way through it by test fitting little by little. Thats my opinion, good luck on fixing it. And also, next time, try and post your ideas so people who are handy can give u some advice on how to go about it.

good luck.

Agreed. The more I look at the Mugen front bumper, the more I being to love it

Anyway, why not make some sort of housing? You could use some sort of hard, condensed foam? You're going to have to a larger hole this time, but at least everything will look even. Oh, and a dremel costs about $30 or so including all sorts of bits. Great tool to have for just about anything.

Its hard to see from the pic, but I would first try using a marker and darken that white area and see how it looks. I can't tell if there really is a gap or not. YOu can try looking into finding something to fill it in. You can get this expox glue where you take 2 puttys and mix em together and then fill in the gap...make sure you put more than you need. Then sand it down to the shape you want.. The only problem is that it is not going to color match the interior..for that the only thing i can think of is to try to color it in again...

I forget the name of the epoxy glue I used, I'll look it up tomorrow.. but this is what i used when I custom fitted my front and rear lip

oh yea, one more thing you can try doing is finding a housing that's a little bigger to cover the gaps.. try cutting a custom peice of plastic ...

the harness was behind the tweeter cover tied up to all the other wires.

hey Adam, thanks for looking out man. I mounted the fogs to the bottom of this flat area as you can see

Thanks for all you help guys. I'm going to try to find a bigger housing that will cover it, like neoekei said, maybe a little thick piece of plastic and custom cut it. and if that wont work, then I'll just find something to fill it up with.

This is a good idea but the problem would be mounting it cause each bezel (4th and 5th) have their own mounting clips. I guess epoxy and junk will work to stick it in place. But fullyludedsi's idea is a lot cleaner...sorda
