Hi, everyone! I guess this topic has been covered quite alot of time. But i did a search on the board but it seems like people only give info about swapping H22A into Si.. not to S.
So, can anybody please give me a complete COMPLETE complete list of parts needed to do a COMPLETE H22A swap into my S lude?
I really am not happy with my S lude. But I guess after H22A swap in it should make some diff.
And, how much $$$ do I need to do the COMPLETE swap?
Where can I get those parts?
Again, the most important question is what parts should I need to buy for the swap? From what I know, not sure does it apply to S or not, I need a H22A engine, ECU, tranny, wire harness(where to get), and what else?
There shouldnt be any additional parts from the Si to VTEC swap, but you will have to add a few additional wires that for features used by the H22/23 and are not present on the F22. You do not need the JDM wiring harness.
hey, well im not finished with mine yet. Hopefully i can start mine tommorow. Let me give you some info on mine.
I have 92 S. I already changed the transmission to a SI trans.
I got my longbglock from www.hondamotorsonline.com for 1200$. I got my ECU from someone selling one. JDM P13 250$. I pulled the motor and had to swap a few things over. Fuel Rail, Motor Mounts, Distributor(the distrib did not bolt up so i swapped the distrib internals to the JDM one.) The S transmission will bolt up but the long gears wont help your power. You need to do somthing about the Exaust. The Header will not bolt up to your downpipe and the Vtec downpipe wont bolt to your cat. I got the Vtec downpipe and welded the S flange near the Cat to the Vtec downpipe which makes it bolt up without spending money on an exaust. You need to bolt the S COIL to the vtec motor. I used the top starter bolt because the wires are too short to reach far. I had to cut the COIL mount so it fit correctly. ALOT of the wires on the S harness are too short to fit the vtec motor, so make sure you get the JDM Harness to use the wires for spair parts. I had to legthen alot of wires. The O2 sensor on the S manifold needs to be moved down to the Downpipe on the Vtec. SO those wires need to legthened. You will prolly need to buy some Cotter pins and the Nuts at the end of the Cvs need to be replaced. You will need OIL, Transmission Fluid, and Coolant. You need to wire a few things. Check the FaQ for those wires caus i dont wana take the time to list them. Use the wires from the JDM Harness. I took all the tape and Plastic covers off the JDM harness so it was easy to trace the wires i needed a nd disconnect them. As soon as you remove a wire connect it to your harness so you dont forget where it goes. I dont know where to hook up the Vtec wire yet but hopefully ill know tommorow. Also there is a throttle sensor thing on the Throttle Body. On the us engine it is Rivited and on the JDM it is skrewed in. SO just swap it over. It has been 5 days since i started and i have been doing it all by myself. I prolly left some stuff out so just msg me and ill answer any questions you have.(P.S) The motor mounts are a pain in the butt, so take them off all the way so they dont get in the way. Battery tray too.

Anyway, keep me updated please. too bad you are in Ca otherwise, i will bring my car to you and have you help me to do the swap. But yeah, keep in touch with me and tell me more about the progress. I am kinda excited now.
Oh ya, so is that all the diff. between S and Si? after doing the swap then that mean your S lude has no diff. than any Si (swapped)? Or there is still something in S diff. from Si (in terms of performance, not interior stuff). This is the thing I always wonder.
Coz I used to be very frustrated to get myself a Si and sell mine (S). So, if the engine swap is the only thing to differ the S and Si then I am pretty much ok with it again.

Please advice. Thanks
Your S model will not have ABS or power locks like Si and VTEC models.
You already have a throttle cable, alternator, starter, clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, axles, intermediate shaft, mounts, and you can work with the dist and wiring harness you have. Is this a JDM Motor? If so you still need the distrib, fuel rail and wiring harness caus they wont work with your car.
Whats the price on that? You can get the longblock, transmission, Aftermarket Clutch, flywheel, pressure Plate and buy a ECU and your set.
I prolly paid 2200 for everything, but i didnt get a good price on the transmission caus i didnt know where to find one at the time. I installed my trans and clutch like 1 month b4 my car died.

Even thou the vtec is sooo much faster then the base model I kinda like my f22 engine. It is VERY good with gas (I average 30mpg) and somewhat more reliable then the vtec but of course most people dont like thoes features in light of a 65 horsepower increase and vtec. Ah what am I thinking I wish I had vtec just trying to fool myself again
